Pretty random but I feel like it for some reason right now XD Anime or manga where main character is put into the position of being a fiance/engagement.

Off the top of my head I can think of

I can't think of anime titles off my head, but the manga series Sore wa Totsuzen, Unmei no Aite ga will have what you're looking for. I don't know if you've read it, but this is all I can offer at the moment.

I will second Ai Yori Aoshi. A very enjoyable story and the female lead Aoi is a wonderful character. For me at least.

Onegai Teacher will always be a classic for this trope.

There's also Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka, but your mileage may vary on the rage-worthy ending.

A more recent example would be Nisekoi.

Be careful with this one...there are lots of girls "claiming" to be someone's fiancé because of some stupid childhood promises, or because of some other stupid reason. An example of the latter is Seto no Hanayome and Kore wa Zombie.

One good one I know of is Ranma 1/2 because it's hilarious. Comedy doesn't age. Another is Ai Yori Aoshi.
