Again...regardless of how many red herrings they throw around, Marika dying is too heavy for this manga. It'll never happen so don't even worry about it...this ain't Akame ga Kiru, yo xD

Randrak you should know very well anything is possible. Fact is this story has become so ridiculous that anything to speed things along the actual plot would be rather hilarious since its almost become a forgotten thing the relationship between the girls

Actually diverse Manga sites flagged it as Drama, and there are more than enough hints that Marika could sooner or later die or at least fall into a coma.
Depending on how far they want to stretch it it might even happen shortly after she is eclared locket girl.

The more I think of it, there seems to be two ways the author can go about it. Raku charms Ruri with standard harem nice-guy decency or Shu himself takes the initiative.

And there are also more complex possibilities.

For example, Ruri could fall for Raku. But because of Chitoge, this is another repeat of the Haru situation - Ruri will risk compromising her friendship. So, Ruri first tries to suppress those feelings, but after struggling, decide to redirect those feelings to Shuu , as a "substitute instead". And, so true to the title of the story, the Beta Couple (Ruri x Shuu) is yet another form of fake love, because Shuu starts out substituting for Raku.

That's just one possibility.

It's not that we HATE death in this manga...it's just easy to see that the manga's theme and style wouldn't allow for something as heavy as death...especially of such a beloved character like Marika. The death flags are all just red herrings, it's just the author trying to create drama and tension which mostly fails thanks to the weak tools he's working with for that type of craft.
And considering this manga...it also applies to minor characters.
