Heres the IGN article.
i know theres an iffy chance of it coming over, but still its amazing.
now you can match luffy against naruto!!!
also dbz, but im not really a fan of it.

"The latest issue of Japan's Shounen Jump comic magazine has some big news that's sure to spell big things for the Nintendo DS. The magazine is home to first news of Jump Superstars, a game that promises to feature characters from Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece and other Jump properties. The game is being developed for the DS.

Little has been revealed about the title. The magazine promises a fighting game where you'll be able to pit various Jump characters against one-another. The twin screens and touch panel functionality of the DS will be used for the game.

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto provided a few comments to the magazine to celebrate the birth of this new title. "We're currently developing a revolutionary piece of software for the DS, a system that allows for unique play experiences unlike anything before," said the master. "Please, look forward to the completely new form of entertainment that will result from this collaboration with Jump."

The magazine is promising a follow-up report in the December issue of V-Jump, which is due for release on 10/12. Stay tuned for more on what could be a huge killer-app for the DS in Japan."

w00t. I just hoped it came out on ps2, GC and X box instead. Although i'll probably purchase a DS, i would rather see such a game on a console as opposed to a portable system.

Portable systems never have fun fighting games. Although we have not seen the capibilities of the DS, i would rather play it on the big screen. A game like this only comes out once in a while and i dont want it to be wasted on a system that cant handle complex moves and etc.

Damn I really hope a game like this comes out for Gamecube. The possibilies for characters all in a single game is amazing.

This game cannot be released on current systems because they don't support touch screen capability, unless you want to release as a "standard" fighter.

I'm looking forward to the game, the idea behind it is fantastic (kind of like Super Smash Brothers), the one thing that worries me the most, is the balance of the game. How can Luffy or Naruto even stand a chance against Goku :P
I wonder what other Shounen Jump characters will be used.

Seeing as it has 'superstars' in it's name, Kenshiro is most likely going to appear.

Luffy or Naruto can defeat Goku for the same reason mario can beat mewtwo.

Im guessing they'll also have yu-gi and characters from shaman king.

Oh God, please let this be something that happens. Kenshiro has pretty much never gotten a fair shake in the game market....here's hoping this gets brought to the US regardless....or perhaps becomes an entire franchise....the possibilites are staggering...Yusuke vs Goku?...mwahaha

and you can BET that fugly ass guy from Kinnikuman will be there (they haven't whored out that franchise enough yet)
it's be pretty funny to see a Prince of Tennis character in there

Oh yeah, Satsuki from Ichigo 100% will be there, and beat all the guys with her ecchi attacks.
..and Raito from Death Note. His attack will be to write the opponents name down. XD

1. There is obviously going to be more characters announced.
2. The Dragonball series are more popular than One Piece and Naruto could ever hope to be.

Mazinger would be pretty interesting. If they did put it in, would he be like Optimus Prime in that one GC Smash Bros wanna be?

And yes, Dragon Ball pretty much pwns all shounen manga in Japan. I wouldn't be surprised if they considered it a literary classic already. Yay Dragon Ball!

But some Naruto charaters would be great. And what will the graphics be 3d Cell Shaded or just Sprite based 2D ?

Well, I grew up on Dragon Ball since the early 90s, sooooo, F*#$ YOU! Just Kidding, everyone is entitled to their opinions and yes, Dragon Ball is pretty cheesy. But since the DS graphics seem to be presented as a souped up N64, they might go the way of how the old school SSB went, 3D. I'd like to see how cell shaded would stack up on the system.
