I just got caught up with episodes 4, 5, and 6, and I was going WTF on that whole hell scene, where all the kids were lined up on the floor! And why can't the staff laugh naturally? It's not like the kids are hideous to look at. Any normal person would have a natural happy and jovial reaction, but I guess in anime world, when you have to multiply the number of times you have to laugh, it takes a strain on your mind and body.
Shirogane was super over protective in school, but glad she agreed to join the local circus. She definitely put on a good show in school during gym class! And happy to see the kid standing up to the bullies and gaining their newfound respect. It even looks like he has a future girlfriend! |

goddamn, when I thought the intensity was strong, the next episode ramps it the stakes more.
07 was so good. The new knife girl is hilarious, the shifts in her actions got me at the end. Also, my god at these two character routes going on. The payoff when the paths actually meet again is going to be huge.

Narumi went fill Tora mode in this episode. The animation for his fight was really good.
I actually wasn't expecting Shirogane to be an Aqua Vitae person too. Wasn't she injured in the previous arc? I don't recall any hints she could heal. Apparently she can pass down her powers by having others drink her blood? I assume it's temporary and Masaru will have to regularly drink her blood, otherwise they could have just used her or Narumi's blood to heal the children.

Yeah. On the one hand, she's a Shirogane. On the other, she's been hurt and incapacitated in the past, so her healing factor is way less impressive than Narumi's. Is it because the Aqua Vitae loses its potency with time? Or maybe she never had it, but her mother did?

Well I suppose Shirogane could have just been pretending to need to be hospitalized earlier so she could stay close to Masaru. Plenty of questions raised. Is possible that her healing ability isn't super strong so she was incapacitated long enough for things to unfold like they did in the opening arc. They may have needed to use far more to save Narumi's life than the amount Shirogane ingested at some point in the past. And the result being that his healing is crazy strong while hers is more limited. Luckily Narumi's efforts to protect Shirogane in those earlier episodes had emotional value. Since they were apparently unnecessary on a physical level .
I get the feeling every Shirogane has that stuff inside of them. If you want to make a human weapon then making sure they can take a beating seems appropriate. I'd expect Guy to be the same in having that sort of recovery power. My guess anyways is that ingesting the blood just gives a very minor benefit. Stop him from catching a cold and slightly improved healing. Probably insufficient to cure people with Zonapha or survive otherwise lethal damage. But I'm guessing we'll find out how effective that is sooner or later. If nothing else I love Shirogane's determination. Just stand there with 30 or more knives sticking out of her and then just pulling one out of her skull because 'badass.'

Those knives went in deep! Surprised they weren't deep enough to kill her, especially the one going into her head.
Now, it's revealed she has healing powers like Narumi, and can even pass it on to others through her blood. Super strange. But I think the strangest thing is the quick turnaround Vilma did from being an assassin to circus performer. I get that her brother's death helped her, but it was a complete 180 change of character. I'm not sure I buy it 100%, as it wasn't explained who hired her in the first place, so I have a feeling she might be at odds with Shirogane again in the future. |

Inconsistencies aside, I like how Shirogane is developing more and more and forming interesting relationships. And Narumi going Tora mode was pretty epic.

Episode 8
Pretty thrilling episode. Really glad to see Shirogane doing well at circus with her crew. The part that they talked about her feelings is interesting. While she doesn't have any romantic interest right now, I think it's clear that Narumi is someone she can't forget. I'm curious to see how this show will develop her personality especially since she's showing more and more human emotions. Narumi also made quite an impact and his dedication to protect kids is amazing. Really curious to see what he'll say to Shirogane next time.

I was disappointed Shirogane didn't get to see Narumi because of the smoke, but then he came back and saved her and Masaru which made me happy they weren't postponing the reunion after all... except he left again without the two of them getting to see him so I was disappointed once more
First a train, now a freaking plane. What's next? I'd say the real hero of this episode was Guy. He isn't as cold as he looks, and he's extremely dedicated to his mission. I thought he'd turn out to be Shirogane's brother but he was her master instead. Close enough.

They seem to have skipped lots of stuff in this week's episode. Not surprising of course, given that the anime adaptation has less episodes than the manga has volumes.
We're getting into the origin of the automatas. And I guess this is also the origin of Shirogane and Narumi's relationship, assuming they're the reincarnations of Francine and Yin. Them looking exactly alike could just be artistic license, though.
