I'd rather have whiskey, but that'll do. Actually, just a coke.

I had no idea there was a release date for the second movie already!

And the poster looks really mahou-shoujo like - I could just picture the second movie ending with a Sheryl x Ranka duet yet again, this time with magical pink sparkles and rainbows and all. :P (Of course, there better be more than just that, or many heads will roll, says the fans.)

I absolutely agree...the major plot points are resolved; yeah, there are tons of little details and loose ends to engage the specialist, but most people aren't Frontier specialists. Every work of fiction ALWAYS has loose ends and unanswered questions.

(And hey...it's okay. I do have a stick up my ass about people who obsess over the love triangle to the exclusion of all else. So include me all you want!)

But nobody can tell me that an OVA would just consist of "Sheryl and Alto embrace, Ranka wails "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!", The End". There are still lots of things which could be done for one or more episodes of an OVA. A second season would need more stuff, but as I said, I just put five minutes of quite pissed off thinking into it, I imagine more creative people like Shoji Kawamori could conceivably come up with something more to do with these hugely popular characters than little me.
Ummm...yeah. I didn't say there was nothing else to be said, ever...just that the story was resolved. An epilogue would've been nice, but it didn't happen. It didn't happen for any other Macross series, either. What happened to the three Zentradi spies from the original series? Was everyone on the Macross's bridge okay after Kamujin's final attack? What about Claudia? Did she ever find love again, or did she just drink herself to death? Was Isamu punished or rewarded? Did he and Myung end up together? Who did Mylene finally choose? Did Max and Milia ever get back together? Where are Shin and Sara?

It's par for the course. We can HOPE, of course, but I'm just trying to be realistic about it.

So that's how it is.

1st movie- Sheryl
2nd movie- Ranka~

Common denominator- Trolly ending!

If I'm Kawamori and I'm having a field day with all the profits I earned by not resolving the triangle, I wouldn't go there either. Point is. Don't keep your hopes up about any LT resolution and just enjoy what they give you. That will save you from getting distressed over cartoons.

Shoujo = Awesome! Ranka's poster = Awesome! So I'd take shoujo fluff any day over Emo movie posters.

and you've asserted on many an occasion that THERE IS NO DOUBT that Alto chose Sheryl.

Yeah, of course they could just stop bringing out Macross material, but I think the chances for some OVA's are quite higher than you think. We'll see after movie two, I guess.

Why do I suspect Beto hasn't seen Princess Bride? ^^

Hmm...I just hope parents don't bring their litter of kids to the movie on account of that poster.

"Oh, look a magical girl! I wanna watch that mommy!"

"Of course, dear. What could it be possibly about? It must be G-rated with a lot of rainbows and unicorns!"

The current discussion for Highschool of the Dead is pretty fun, especially when Macross got brought into it for the lolz.

Wow girl you need to get a clue, movie 1 is all about Ranka too. You need a link to a bleach forum so you can see the light.

I wonder how the japanese audiences will react to the 2nd movie...imo the gap between the two movies is too big lol...plus it's almost 2 years after the series and the hype about Frontier is pretty much gone...

P.S I thought the original ending was 3 ppl lived happily ever after...just like those classic tales...no one will say those classic tales are left unresolved??

To all old and new Sheryl fans:
I am a Ranka fan and I have significant experience in defending various "crimes" committed by Ranka, from her evil plan to terminate human races, to feeding inapporiate food to unknown lifeforms. If you think you find "new" charges aginst Ranka and you are interested, or you care to see how a particular Ranka fan would respond, please feel free to check my previous comment. There is a good chance that I have answered a similiar issue. And of course, my viewpoints do not necessarily represent other perspectivs from numerous Ranka fans in this planet

Tell that to the people making the new Evangelion movies and New Type polls.

Those classic tales rarely involved a love-triangle at the end.

I never would've guessed Sheryl would have THAT MUCH staying power in the Newtype polls.

Color me impressed. The Galactic Fairy will be rememberedq for a LONG time.

Are you kidding me? She is a fantastic character.

Actually, I am puzzled that she doesn't constantly rank higher, but then again Japanese otaku culture is at this point heavily slanted towards moeblobs ( see K-ON ), so it's amazing that she can overcome that barrier in the first place.

She would probably venture higher if there were music games aka ''Sing with Sheryl'' or something similar. I'm surprised she isn't a featured character in that Vocaloid game series.

I still think a mech action + dating game would be a perfect combo
