PlayStation 4 Frozen Limited Edition announced for Japan

Sony is releasing a PlayStation 4 “Frozen” Limited Edition in Japan on July 16 for 42,980 yen, the company announced.

The console includes a special Anna and Elsa laser seal hard-drive bay cover.

It does not, however, include a copy of the movie Frozen. You’ll have to pick that one up on your own for an extra 4,000 yen.

Lol, I like how not only did they dropped that bomb right off the bat, but later they made it extra clear which games are true exclusives and which are timed exclusives as if a response to Microsoft and the whole Tomb Raider mess

PlayStation 4 system update 2.00 bringing Share Play, more this fall

• Share Play - A “virtual couch.” PlayStation 4 will create an online local co-op experience by allowing you to invite a friend to join your game, even when they don’t own a copy of it. You’ll be able to play games with a friend just as if you were together in the same room. This way, you could play local co-op modes with a friend even if they aren’t at your house. Share Play also lets you jump into a game to assist a friend, taking over their controller.
  
• YouTube - Players will be able to upload gameplay footage to YouTube. Dedicated app support is also coming.
  
• What’s New - The “What’s New” section will get enhanced real-time activity through friend-of-friend suggestions, allowing instant access to friends’ and recently played games’ broadcasts.
  
• Real Name Search - A real name search function will also be added.

CyberConnect2 developing large-scale original title, to be announced soon

Naruto developer CyberConnect2 has a large-scale original project in development, company president Hiroshi Matsuyama revealed during its “CC2 Summer Campaign” talk event.

According to Matsuyama, the new title will be announced in the near future. While a venue for the announcement wasn’t specified, it’s possible a large-scale title such as this might be announced at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia’s newly confirmed SCEJA Press Conference on September 1. Otherwise, the Tokyo Game Show.

Hiroshi Kawano retiring as SCEJA president

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia president Hiroshi Kawano will retire from his position on August 31, the company announced.

As of September 1, Atsushi Morita will replace Kawano as president of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia.

I am furious that Square sold out to Microsoft and made Rise of the Tomb Raider a timed exclusive for the X-Box. I want to know how long the exclusivity will last. The reboot of TR was really good and I am so very much looking forward to the next game.

How much did MS pay to get the exclusivity? It must've been a container ship full of diamonds for Square to hitch themselves to a sinking ship for the 2015 Holiday Season. Grrr....

The strange thing is that by all accounts the previous game sold more on the PS3.

The annoying thing though is when asked for a statement of confirmation, MS beats around the bush for a few days before caving in and said it was timed only.

That pretty much solidify MS' reputation this gen as being shady as fuck when it comes to announcing exclusivity.

With Persona 5 having a PS4 release, only Zestiria is the last PS3. If it comes out late enough, maybe I wouldn't need to bring my PS3 with me to UK....
