Yandere focused animes
So recently I saw shiki and I thought it would be very interesting and entertaining seeing an anime such as mirai nikki in which there´s a yandere character which is one of the main focuses on the story rather than a side character, with a good backstory and is also not comedy at all, does anyone know an anime like this one?

Shuffle has a prominent character who has displayed yandere'ish behavior in the past ... and I guess her relationship with the MC could be one of the main themes of the story as a whole. But only one - lots of different threads going on in that series.

The only other show I can think of is Shimoneta, but that one is technically a comedy. I'd still recommend you watch it as the yandere in that series is one of the most amazing yanderes you'll see. i sometimes find myself wondering whether to be amused, scared or just creeped out. |

One thing you may consder doing (if you do not already have one) is creating a MAL or anime-planet account with a list of all the series you have seen, and then linking to it in your initial post, that way people might be able to suggest things you have not already seen with more certainty....

Not a problem, not a problem ... having such an account is not really a "rule" per se, moreso something I (and others) have seen posters do in the past that made suggestions easier for them - they were better able to have their questions answered and suggestions were able to be more fruitful in a way. ^^

I think Seryuu from Akame ga Kill would count as one. Though then again she is just crazy, not in love with MC.
What about reversed? Freaky obsessed male character? Cause Amnesia has one or two guys whose obsession with heroine are not healthy. Not very good series but maybe you'll like it. Not to yandare level but ef: tale of memories has one or two characters who have a bit of unhealthy slip. I would not think yuri counts but thought I would list it either way: Mai HiME has a character who goes on a killing spree because of the person she loves who happens to be a female. She is more of a side character but very memorable. Tasogare Otome x Amnesia possibly? She is not exactly yandare but main heroine is a ghost who is very possessive of a MC and frightens every girls who gets close to him. Her back story revealed eventually as well which is quiet tragic. These are probably not exactly what you want but thought it was worth mentioning them just in case.

Yandere are really hard characters to write as the heroine.
They have to walk the edge between being terrifying the audience, while also being sweet enough that the audience cheers for them. It's much easier to write them as a comedy (who the audience can cheer for) or as a villian (who the audience can oppose). Writing a character who is both sweet and terrifying? Yuno from Mirai Nikki is the only one I can really say I've seen. It's why the plot holes and other difficulties in the series are forgiven, because the author nailed that Yandere as a heroine concept.
