One Piece - Chapter 899 [manga]

Alright, we're one chapter away from reaching the big nine double-o! In the meantime, here's the current chapter info, courtesy of AP's Redon:

-Chapter title is "The last stronghold". Ministory introduces us to Goldberg, the cook of the New Giant Pirates.

-People all over Totland are worried about the situation at Cacao Island. We then cut to Capone, who left the wedding cake on an island. In front of the cake is the starving Big Mom....

-Back at Cacao Island, BM's forces are about to swarm the Sunny once more. However, the ship is soon protected by none other than.... Vinsmoke Judge! The king of Germa still has signs of injuries from the tea party attack (such as bandages over his right eye), but he uses his mobile fortress to guard the Sunny. He also takes the time to berate Luffy for his acceptance of Sanji, but the rubber man dismisses his rude comments as compliments instead, heh. Anyway,, despite Judge's support, even MORE enemy ships arrive to back up the present forces on Cacao Island, complicating the situation once more....!!!

-Daifuku once again unleashes his genie to destroy the Sunny, but Sanji won't let that happen, and has a rematch with the minister. In the midst of this mayhem, something huge comes rising from under the ocean.... which turns out to be Wadatsumi! Yes, the Sun Pirates have now arrived to lend a helping hand....!!!!

Judge is acting totally tsundere toward Sanji. He's protecting him and yet still say he's a good for nothing who can only cook and shames royalty. Luffy's response to that is great

Still, at leat i want to see how Judge was able to redeem his mistake to his son though. The sin that Judge commit is too big for a father to bear. I hope that Sanji got a Raid Suit since we know that if Sanji got immobilized, he will be a very useless fighter.

Our heroes are winning this chapter and will keep winning to the end of this arc.

The threat level of BM pirates cannon fodder army that is available for like 3 chapters already, doesnt impress me one bit to tell the truth. I just want this Germa show off to end as quickly as possible with Judge to cry and accept Sanji so we can get over this.

CP-0 made a good choice to escort the journalist out. Hope they manage to escape from the island as well XD

This will be a big news and surely enough Marines can act.

I don't think all these troops are supposed to be there for some suspense. I guess they should only make the Straw Hat's success much more impressive in the end.

This was another good setup chapter.

At this point there's only a couple of unticked entries in the checklist of plot elements to watch out for as this arc heads to its climax and Chapter 900. The Big Mom's cake eating and Pudding's whereabouts.

Big Mom is obviously going to eat the cake next chapter and despite what Perospero said there's only two possible scenarios that can happen after she eats the cake:

1. She faints and is out of commission for the rest of the arc and thereby allowing the Straw Hats to escape.
2. She regains her sanity and remain conscious. This will allow her to regain her bearings, hear about all the shit that's happened while she chased the wedding cake and then rush from Puffs island to the battleground. (Whether she'll make it before they escape is another story).

I'm personally expecting 2. to occur as there would be no reason to change the cake's destination from Liqueur Island to Puffs Island in the first place.

Either way, Shokugeki no Sanji is happening next chapter!

Big Mom will orgasm so hard she destroys an entire island and put out Prometheus's Fire.

Meanwhile, Judge is having a mental crisis, as he sees someone who holds his "useless" son so dear. The part where he listed out Sanji's "good/bad things" is hilarious.

Oh man, Luffy's reaction to Judge was perfect. Best part of the chapter for me. Only someone like him would take those criticisms as compliments! Still, like Kanon said, Judge is still trying to protect his son despite all he said, so he pretty much is being a tsundere parent at this point, heh.

Also, checking the ministory.... is Goldberg's shield alive? I mean, it's quite likely to just be a decoration, but that tongue kinda makes me feel otherwise....

Well, so Luffy's bounty will increase after this arc after all, wonder how much? Maybe the others as well, I'd LOL So much if Sanji's went higher than Zoro's.

Luffy in my opinion is the best character, he's simply too hilarious.

Big Mom has been too weakened to come back from this mess, all her crew has been defeated pretty much and whatever happens with her and that cake I have a feeling it won't be good. That will be reported around the world so her reputation will be ruined at that point. Luffy pretty much defeated her.

Jinbei is officially apart of the crew now YAY!

I don't know about you guys but I enjoyed the chapter. Wonder what will happen next chapter? Pretty big number so you'd think something big will.

Luffy's reaction to Judge was just great. It was the best part of the chapter for me. Jimbei's reaction was also pretty good. He can tell that this is a fun crew that he's about to join.

Right at 900. Pirates finished, makes escape. That's a perfect number lol. Now 100 chapters of Kaido, or 200.

Probably to cause as much chaos so it would take a while to send out a pursuit fleet.

this chapter brought alot of closure to a lot of loose ends. I'm really hoping we get an unexpected visitor, maybe someone that lands BM a blow that kills or injures her, like a Lafitte type but from Kaido's crew. If Sanji debuts a new move to tear that Genie to shreds it will close this arc perfectly.

I liked Jinbe's reaction too. He's always seemed like a dead serious guy to me, so seeing him laugh so heartily proves he knows how to have fun and makes it look like he's going to fit right in.

I would not consider that dream to be dead just yet. We just need confirmation on what her decision will be when the escape is successful.

Amazing chapter.

Can't believe that even after being saved, Judge STILL considers Sanji a "failure". Even a near death experience can't change how much of a dick this guy is.

At this pace, it looks like we're never going to get a reckoning between Sanji and his brothers. We just have to swallow and accept the fact that Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji will never get their comeuppance for what they did to Sanji in the past. Saving them didn't really change their minds about their brother, though at least they have the excuse of being monsters due to what Judge did to them since they were babies.

It's great that Jimbei's old friends is there to save the Straw Hats from Big Mom's pursuing crew and that Jimbei will join the team when all this is done.

But what about Carrot? What about Reiju? What about Pudding? Why is it that we can never get another strong, attractive and/or interesting female to join the damn crew?
