Help create our new spoiler button
You might not have noticed, but we now have a button to create a spoiler tag. You can find it with the rest of the editing buttons in the reply dialogue. This button doesn't yet appear in the quick reply, though I hope it will soon.
Our current button, is decent enough, but maybe not perfect. Can anyone else come up with a better button for a spoiler tag? It has to be 21x20 pixels in size. Here's my attempt:

Hmm, similar to Geta above, I was thinking of a button containing just a simple hazard sign (like the yellow triangle that is in the current one). At the same time, it should fit in as closely as possible (in colour and style) with the rest of the buttons so as not to seem out of place (as it does now, mainly due to the WinXP-like magnifying glass). Sadly, I can't draw one out atm. I'll try later on if no one else does it first.
And on a side note; Thanks for adding this new feature. I'm very happy about the addition of that button, it's going to make life easier. |

BTW I'm presuming it has to have a that GREY background to merge with the mesege box, like all the other buttons. (that #e1e1e2 color)

If it has to be 21 x 20 px though, I vote for this. Something practical at any rate.

@ QuarkboyAhh~ Ralf Nader.. * Cats is totally clooless.. ------------------- Can you fill me in on the joke, I'm pretty slow at this. @ waoYou know its been bugging me.. I don't think there's any technical limitation on size in Vb, and honestly spoilers are so damn important and annoying even a 1280 x 1024 button should be legal. I think I'll check to see if there's a fizical limitation or not.

I love the idea of an anime icon as suggested in the first post by NoSanninWa. I also like the idea of an animated gif, so why not combine the two. Who can make an animated gif from this image (or teach me how to make one using PhotoPaint.
followed by the sequence of these characters AAAAaaaaaaaa S P O I L E R S AAAAaaaaaaaa S P O I L E R S As for 21 x 20. It's what vB requires without hacking the rhubarb out of it. So at this point in time we would prefer not to work NightWish to the bone. |

Well what do you know there is..
All the images for the buttons have the size of 21 x 20 associated with them.. what a stupid thing to do. So even if there is no limit on what you can upload as button, it will get squished to 21 x 20.. dammit~ @ NoSanyWaThere's no limitation for animation.. it's only a matter of your decision. Eks doesn't seem to mind. BTW thanks for the info..

Alternative (spaces added between "spoilers"): Don't really know how it came out though

I don't think that's what he wanted..
Probably something along the lines of a small snippet of a animated sequence followed by the text scrolling with SPOILER one letter at a time at the end.. That way it would be easy to get and would also loop perfectly.

That's sort of what I was thinking. I didn't mean exactly the vB fonts (size and bold) but more the idea that the font shrinks as it goes along, followed with S,P,O,I,L,E,R,S.
I tried something similar with PhotoPaint using Comic Sans as the font (point size 8, 7.5, 7, 6.5, 6, 5.5, etc.) but I'm just not used to the Movie command to get it the way I wanted Hmmmm, scrolling (left to right text), hmmm. Maybe I should take this to PM |

Tsk, double post.
After the scrolling text comment, this is the sort of sequence I came up with. It's my first animated gif so if anyone wants to create a more polished version, feel free. Hmmm, the timing is off. I wanted all but the 1st and 29th frame to be 50mS and frames 1 and 29 to be 500mS. Lets try this, third time lucky That's better. BTW, to lazy to add the "S" to "SPOILERS". Edit: Further changes to the timing. Last edited by xris; 2007-04-10 at 19:41. |
