I'm gonna get my 360 copy next week, but any of you guys have first hand accounts of how buggy this game is?

^I've been playing the PC version for a few hours and I haven't had any crashes or any noteworthy bugs.

It initially took a little work to get the performance up to snuff though. There's this seamingly universal performance issue (on PC at least) that slows things down to a crawl when a lot of hostile NPCs are on the screen. There is a fix for it though that involves dropping a directx dll into the installation folder. Otherwise I found that disabling depth of field really improved performance overall (depth of field is kind of a lame effect anyways). Oh, and I had to add some lines to the ini to get rid of the horrible mouse acceleration.

So far I'm having fun and appreciating a lot of the changes.

I'm gonna buy this for PC...eventually. When few of ''worthy'' mods gets released together with body replacer. Want to play as female in this one but ladies faces in this and in Fallout 3 were...meh.

I like this game better than Fallout 3. The music is just really nice and I'm getting a much better sense of immersion.

I take it, bug wise, that it's more or less the same bugs I can expect with F3?

I always play with a guy character in most of the games that let you create your own character and choose gender, Fallout 1&2 included. But in F3, the personality of my character really didn't flesh out with only basic answers from conversation options. It felt really bland, like my character is a robot. In those rare cases, where I don't imagine myself as the role player, I rather play with females.

And now, I'm assuming New Vegas is closer to F3 then it's previous games so that is the reason I said that I'll play with female character. Hope it all made sense

Yup, there's a FPS performance bug from Fallout 3 that somehow managed to get into New Vegas. You have to use a custom .dll file to fix it. There's mouse acceleration issues that someone mentioned you need to alter settings in the .ini file to fix, and then there are reported issues with autosaves and quicksaves not updating to the latest saves forcing you to make regular hardsaves, courtesy of Steam synchro issues.

Fallout new vegas's story,script and everything else not including gameplay is totally diffrent. you should start off as a guy and try it out first. you can always do another play through as a chick lol.

So far ive made 3 characters because of how hard the decisions in this game are. one wrong quest and you can get hated by the people you wanted to like.

FONV = FO2 sequel.
FO3 = FO1 sequel.

Think of it that way.

Been playing for about 15 hours, aside from the save bug, I'm having a blast. Though I've barely done anything, haven't even been to new vegas yet, so it looks like I'll be putting in as much time in this game as I did in FO3 (150+ hours).

Wondering whether I should get the game everyone else makes it sound interesting but question, regardless of your opinion on the game itself is the gameplay still basically use V.A.Ts, shoot inaccurately until V.A.Ts recharges then rinse and repeat? Because that is one of the reasons Fallout 3 felt so bland to me, felt more like a turn based RPG.

Without VATS, Fallout 3 felt like a slow paced FPS anyway. In my experience your weapon skills aren't that big of a factor in manual shooting mode. Of course you should NEVER shoot manually with the view over the shoulder.

Same here. OTS messes with my accuracy. I prefer POV/FPP because it's easier to line my shots up. When you're a Ghost build, accuracy and stealth is what matters.

I never used V.A.T.S that much, actually. I find it irritating that it is suppose to be helpful but isn't - hell I'm legally blind and I can make better shots. V.A.T.S. just feels impractical to me.

By the way, anyone has a screenshot of a fully modded Sniper Rifle~?
