If you believe that, I am surprised. It's the only view of US that the show portrays, the only view of the US that GITS has ever portrayed, corresponds exactly with popular prejudicial view of the complete US, and most effectively represents the complete US in that it deploys WMDs. It probably isn't what the writer's think the complete US is, but it is the clichéd, laughable US that they have panderingly presented in their show, that is now unambiguously committing genocide by bombarding Japan with WMDs rather than taking a ruthless means of ending the war which Japan started. You might as well say that racist presentation of Clown 'isn't meant to represent all black people' - he doesn't in reality, but to very real prejudice, he effectively does, and that condemns him, along with the show.

Post-human boy was more of a threat than US, which goes to show how absurdly depowered the US was. Climax was still too vague and littered with 1984 references to be nail-biting; a little interesting, yes, threatening, no.

You simply offer no space for good discussion when you're already hellbent on believing that GITS antagonize the entirety of US.

Especially when this very show already showed us that it was Aramaki's US colleague & the US President himself who helped Aramaki to bail (ex) Section 9 members from their death sentence back during the first arc of season 1. Not to mention a trustworthy American character as a Prime Minister.

So....suuuure, keep rambling on in this thread about how GITS was sooooo eeeeevil towards the US and none of them based on IRL facts. Go ahead & rant, but I'm out of this pointless venture.

The Japanese Prime Minister and Aramaki's colleague don't represent the US state; the US state does, as presented by 2045 in a manner that you've said nothing to refute, which entirely outweighs a couple of 'good' American individuals, if Clown counts (The Japanese PM does not). There isn't any space for discussion when there was never any question about GITS attitude to US in the first place.
