GITS: SAC 2045 (New Ghost in the Shell) [Netflix] Anticipation

Interesting piece of news. I became familiar with GitS only recently, about 2 years ago (before that, I'd just played the PSX game) and the anime and movies left me very impressed. The live-action movie wasn't terrible either, so I'm looking forward to this attempt.

GitS used to do that with each new reboot. (And really, there was a lot of them. Even the manga had a spin off universe when the first manga sequel got abandoned and replaced.)

The issue is that this is the first time they deliberately went BACK to a previous established universe, because SAC was one of the more successful SAC world and Arise bombed.

The desire to link this with SAC was likely for marketing. Even though there is a good chance for this show to actually be a sequel to SAC only in a loose sense and that it was better off being its own universe.

Maybe with the direction, story, soundtrack, etc., the anime becomes interesting. But to me, compared to the original movie, it seems an abomination. (I know I may be exaggerating, but the first movie in the series was really special to me).

But anyway, I'll wait and see.

Remember the CGI OP for SAC's first season? The character model in that trailer doesn't look that much better than the one from back then to me. 15 years and barely any improvement. As for the design, it's a complete downgrade. This is awful.

The backgrounds look good though.

I don't think Production IG can do better than that.
From SAC first Gig to Solid State Society, that version of GITS was the most interesting and appealing in my humble opinion.

Eh, she looks fine. We still don't know what story they're going with. I'd rather be positive about that short tease than being negative & angry from the get go. Being angry & negative consumes your mind & energy more than being happy & positive.

At the end of the day, everyone has their own favorite iterations of Motoko. Mine is of course the SAC version, but I welcome other iterations of her with an open mind & open hands.
