The core staff is almost a Nagiasu reunion with a few absences and Okada directing on top of writing while Shinohara steps back to serve as chief director. I am very curious as to how she will fare. Kenji Kawai music should be something to look forward to as well.

Thats a okada film alright. I think half the PV had someone crying.
Aside from that, not gonna lie, visually it looks stunning and being a fantasy genre film is also a plus. However will the film actually be good? Only time will tell. At least I have much more faith in this than that idol moe horse racing horseshit that PAWs next TV series is. EDIT: one thing i did notice is thay cygames was listed as being on the production commitee on the main sayousa website. Does that mean this is going to be long term parternship or something? I had a feeling that the moment I heard Chiaki from Gamers, Iwami Manaka would be the next Okada heroine (sounds a lot like Kayano Ai... even with Children of the Whales, people at first thought it was Kayano who did the heroine). Then I saw the PV and immediately recognized her voice... actually that's a lie, as I thought it was Kayano Ai first, until I actually heard the other voice who is much closer. Then by process of elimination told me that the first voice I heard must have been Iwami. XD
So yeah, I'm a bit sad Okada seems to be skipping Ayaneru (Ayaneru in an Okada work when?), but Iwami is actually my favourite up-and-coming seiyuu, so I'm not too salty. As for the film itself, it does look gorgeous. There's only a couple of Okada works I didn't like, so it's almost guaranteed I'm going to like this one. My only question is... can PA Works do some negotiating overseas to get this released across the Pacific? I mean, Okada's previous anime films (Anohana and Anthem of the Heart) both got a theatrical release, albeit limited, so why not this one too? But if I'm being a bit too subtle there... ELEVEN ARTS YOU BETTER DAMN WELL GET THIS RELEASED HERE IN CANADA TOO!!!!

Wow, that is one impressive trailer.

[EDIT] Funnily enough Ai Kayano actually has a role too.

It appears Makoto Shinkai saw this at a pre-screening (it screens to the public on Feb 24) and he said that he loved it and that he was "jealous to see this level of quality in a directorial debut"
Be it true or not, just the notion of that has me laughing. Shinkai jealous of Okada. Last edited by Pocari_Sweat; 2018-02-17 at 13:13. |
