Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun) is getting a season 2 , sequel. This is not the anime restart project but a new season.

This is the restart of the anime project. The whole deal with the shorts series and sequel is the project.

I don't know why so many people were thinking a single cours anime from a few years ago that didn't heavily diverge from the source was getting a reboot, especially after they announced the shorts, which made it extra clear that when they said the anime project was restarting it meant project as in a series of anime titles which includes the inevitable season 2, not a reboot. If this misunderstanding is still prevalent among the English speaking community, which does appear to be so going by replies I've seen, then clearly no one reporting on anime news in English can parse simple language.

Only question is why it took to long. The manga is (deservedly) a sales powerhouse. I figured this was inevitable with the arrival of Houkago, but it’s nice not to have to worry about it.
