Considering the Ushio is probably the only child I've seen to ever act her age that wasn't a baby. Most "high schoolers" in anime seem to act either too young or too old for their age. But then I'm basing off of American teenagers...and it has been a while since I was in high school.
Yui reminds me a bit of Nagisa (probably the hair and innocense) but at the same times doesn't. (The Fuuko levels in this one may be strong depending on if she spaces out on anything besides castinets) She also talks with her mouth full, something I remember Ayu from Kanon doing. We'll see what she does next week when they get her an instrament.

The Japanese society is pretty fucked up... as are most societies worldwide, so sometimes it comes off as a bit off-putting. And we only see a part of that society, too.

Perhaps I'm desensitized, but I don't think it's creepy at all. I'm sure for most people it's just harmless fun. The likelihood of someone getting hurt in real life is pretty low.
Speaking of claiming wives, there's actually a website where people can marry their favorite fictional characters. |

But yeah, definitely a method of control, although, there's little one can do to change that kind of thing. But that's why we have artistic stuff like anime in the first place. To be subversive. To promote social change. Too bad a lot of anime don't do anything like that though... Quote:

Well, it is KyoAni, and the characters [especially Yui] seem ridiculously cute. That's high school now [and middle school as well, or so I've heard]. As far as rumors go, that happens a lot at my high school. |

I know KyoAni's show always gets special attention (or should I say, overhyped), but this is just cruel. Downloading RAW, seeing the sub, cancel the RAW, downloading the sub, just to realize it's fake. Rinse and repeat. Quote:
We have yet to reach that Kannagi's incident level.

I hope those are the fewer... but unfortunately those are the ones who support the anime industry the most, so those will be the fans the studios will try to cater to.

It doesn't help the general public's perception of anime fans any, either. |
