The ashtray in the office of the brass in charge having the heraldry of the Empire to smother cigars on in contempt was a minor but nice world-building touch.
Also, Kajiura Yuki's epic Rock Opera, or rather in the case Jazz Opera, is musically triumphant as usual, and a delight to listen to.

Aaaah, a "girls with guns fighting secretly against a shadowy organization" with Yuki Kajiura for the ost, that old formula is soooo nostalgic. It's early 2000 Bee train all over again, and I'm definitely on board for more of that.
This time with Steam Punk mixed in, can't say I'm unhappy with that either.

Episode 2
Really helps to recontextualize Princess character and her behavior last episode and htis episode....TWICE. At the end, both Ange and the Princess become complete enigmas in terms of their motives and characterization. Helps to explain why she seems to be pointing a gun at her own comrades in the opening. Also nice to see more of Ange characterization and seeing how well she does at deceit and how easily she slips in and out of various roles. The whole episode really is about Ange's talent at manipulating people and putting on masks. Easily among the top 3 shows of the season. |

I'll give the show credit. I'm never entirely sure what is going to happen until it's over . Even though we knew from the first episode that the Princess would join the group, I didn't quite expect that ending. Can't say I even entirely buy that Ange is this Charlotte girl. Mostly since you just never know with Ange what is true or not.
Either way they all got out of that situation.

Now this series is ten times more interesting.
First episode already good start, but I was fear it might become common moe anime after that. Second episode was so so until last scene and that hook me on. This serie just seem to has a lot of potential. Spy battles and a lot of twists would be expect. And many deaths may upon main characters. Just hope this series wouldn't dissapoint me at the end.

Dengeki Online has a long (apparently multi part) article with the producer, director and Kajura about the series. I may try to summarize it if there's demand, as it's rather long.

I've watched the first two episodes, and have been pleasantly surprised so far. Haven't cared much for what this season is putting out, but this one has been worth the time so far.
I've liked pretty much all of the main cast so far.

Yeah, that was what I took away from the context of the note. The two of them appear to in fact have manipulated "Ange's" own agency. The urgency of the situation gave them the perfect opportunity and pretext to secure the alliance.
