I went around internet to find some additional explanation how Izayoi arrived at the solution of the false legend. I found some good explanations from Randomc ,so I will share them here.

My impression is that Izayoi realizes the (theoretically) simultaneous timing of the two events – the Black Plague/Death & Little Ice Age. From that coincidence, he then concludes that Pest is not only the embodiment of the Black Death, but also represent the “(Little) Ice Age” as well. Thus she has the power to “restrict/conceal/capture” (however you want to phrase it) “the sun”, or in this case, Shiroyasho who represents the sun in little garden.

HAHAHA, no... Just no.... I'm sick of watching the anime where the MC starts out as a loser. Its extremely boring and repetitive. Izayoi is already better than most anime MCs from episode one.

I said "less". I'd like him more had he been a more comical, less gary-stu-ish personality. But perhaps it's a side effect from re-reading and re-watching old stuff, which is a good thing.

I don't see why there has to be two extremes only.

It's difficult to feel tension in Izayoi scenes because of how he is presented. It might get better as we meet more people close to his power level.

He uses only an extremely small fraction of his power. probably 1/100th when he fights weaklings like he is now. He always fights against his opponent nearly at the same power as they are. Thus having a little fun while beating them trying to have fun. In the LN he is currently looking for someone clsoe to his level and his highness is probably the closest one so far, though he beat him up pretty badly and probably would have died if highness wasn't saved by his allies

Yeah, that's my only problem with this series as well. I like Izayoi more than, say Hagure's Akatsuki, but him being so overpowered and smart and seemingly flawless is a bit of a detriment to the series. Asuka and You have failed several times, and found new strategies to compensate for their weaknesses. Izayoi's had nothing like that, and it's kind of annoying. I appreciate the humility, but he also needs to fail at some point. Failure is a stepping stone to success.

Yeah, Izaoi is pretty much a Sue. Sure, he is damn fun in lots of scenes, but when it comes to action, he makes everything he is in boring as he just doesn't seem like someone who will need to struggle, ever.
