Well Nagi said that Hayate will be there to procted her.... while now hayate is reunited with his love.... what will he do now.... will he abondon Nagi and stay with Athena... or will Hayate go with athena and everyone else back to Japan

hehe but it would be funny if Nagi lost her money and home becouse she smashed that stone... so it all belongs to Athena now.... so to keep hayate happy and close to herself.... she (Athena) will live from now on in Sanzein house (which is her now ^^) the same she will allow Nagi, Maria stay in the house (which the exception is that athena will be liveing here too ^^ and hayate will be her buttler too :P)

so everyone would be happy this way... Athena can have hayate close to her all the day... Hayate is happy to have Athena close and wont break the promise he made to nagi.... and nagi will be able to act as spoiled as ever and still have hayate as her buttler (no separation)

heh maybe Athena would go to the school ground too as the head dirrector :P so she would be close to hayate all the day (in school and in home) ^^

but haveing 2girls (Athena and Nagi) in 1house will couse a cat-fights over hayate's affection ^^

well I cant see Hayate leaveing Athena behind... or leaving nagi and friends behind... so I guess eveyrone will go together... the same Athena becomes dailylife of hayate (since I doubt that after 10years of separation they will let go of each other like that...)

hmm it would be funny if Athena demanded that hayate will sleep in the same room as her (like in past... maybe in the same bed XDXD)... since nagi throwed hayate into that small-ass dark room somewhere in the darkest part of her mansion... so Athena would show how differnet she is ^^ and she will allow hayate to sleep in more pretty room (best would be her own xD morning kiss and warm cuddling like they did in past ^^)

anywya time will show... and chapter shows that Athena has huge love for hayate over all those years... and so her love spilled and she broke in tears of frustration of not beign able to be with hayate but she wants too ^^ it was sooo preatty

I kinda feel sad for Hina... she was not able to confess... yet she was a witness of hayates desperate fight to save athena even when he got injured and was bleeding.... and at the end both hug to each other.... I feel sad that she had to watch this... how now she has no chance of confessing and it will drill her for loooong time from now on...

Well, then let's see how this is supposed to continue. I can't quite see it. The full-closure style of the ending makes my earlier assumption - that Athena will be forced to leave/disappear - less likely to happen. However, I don't see how this story is supposed to develop, as long as Athena is around.

For an Athena ending, close the story _now_. I'll be honest, while I would accept it (what else would be the alternative), it would leave me unsatisfied. The Athena faction will probably crucify me for it, but she hasn't done enough for me to warrant "winning", particularly when other, IMHO more worthy characters, who have been developed longer and have personally invested more, lose out like this. The biggest "pro" Argument I can see for Athena is that Hata originally planned to name his story "Royal Garden", so in a funny way, Athena may end up to be the originally intended ending match.

So how is the story supposed to proceed? I somehow don't think that it IS supposed to end at this point of time. Would anyone like Hayate to date Athena while butlering Nagi? As the result of Nagi's willingness to sacrifice her riches for him? I don't. Do I want Hina classily walking out to leave Hayate to Athena and keep it like this? I don't.

The only way to _properly_ conclude HnG which I see would be to 1) find some kind of credibly positive resolution for all other worthy characters vying for Hayate's affection, leading to 2) all of them positively trying to get Hayate and the resisting final girl together. Kinda like everyone joining together at the end of Love Hina to get Naru and Keitaro together. But these preparations are entirely missing.

Once Nagi learns about this - Hayate loving someone else, and she sacrificing her wealth to make it happen - she will be crestfallen. Even if Hata tried to write something in this direction in a sudden burst of non-believable maturity, causing Nagi to accept and support Hayate-Athena, it would ring fake. Till now she still thinks that Hayate is completely in love with her. It will hurt her terribly.

Hina? Walking away with her mask still on, literally. It bothers me terribly that she continues to selflessly rack up karma points by _continuously_ helping out others, but without any kind of reward. Happy ending? Not for her at the moment. Ayumu? While it would be more in character for her to accept an Athena ending (since I have the strange gut feeling that she has already accepted that it won't be her), she also has no closure. Maria? Completely left out lately.

Nope, this is going to continue. Which gives more time to do 1) and 2). Without Athena we'd have a reset (which is why I expect(ed) it to happen and kinda still do). But with her - it will be weird.

Let's see.

still Nagi doesnt know about Athena and Hayate knowing each other from 10years ago... nagi knows hayate less than athena....... nagi had luck while athena was too late to find and bring hayate with herself.... like we saw in current chapter... Athena was sitting in a car and she noticed hayate... she instantly runed to him but than she noticed that nagi already captured him.... and hayate seems to be happy so she left him be since he is smiling and is not sad like in the parting (where she hurted hayate)

Ayumu & Hina know about Hayate and Athena and their relantionship from 10years ago and that its still ongoing.... their feelings didnt disappeared... so they would suffer but still they could accept it somehow (heh meybe it would lead to an ayumuxhina ending xD)

nagi was like 2-3y old when hayate was together with athena....... hmmm I guess mikado might be up to something here... like with athena free from midas... mikado might see an opportunity to gain the god power... and maybe try to bring nagis mother back alive.... :P

Well there still might be a very sad thing... like athena was finaly able to be together with hayate... but the separation from king midas... made a reset on her mind (like isumi mentioned long ago... that the shock might change athena) so she forgot everything related to Royal Garden... so hayate included....

hayate would be happy to see healthy athena (and that he will remember her forever even if she doesnt remember him) but deeply sad/hurt.... this huge pain and depression is a good chance for other girls to try and cheer him up the same become closer to him.... so here Hina jumps in... becouse she was a witness of hayates reunion with athena (and his hard work to save her) so she would really understand his pain.... since someone who goes that far to save a girl really had to love her... yet now that its over becouse she doesnt remember him... so yeah hina might confess here ^^

so many options on how to play that out ^^ we have to wait and see how hata will choose...

As much as I'd be pleased by an Athena end, I don't think anything has been settled. We know Athena still loves Hayate deeply, and we know Hayate still cares and loves Athena, but at the same time, he's also got his duty as Nagi's butler which, I'm sure, he'll definitely fulfill. So, despite his feelings for Athena, he may choose to live up to his duty.

I also think Hina gained major points in these chapters, but at the same time I also get the feeling her relationship with Hayate will change. So far, she's been a girl who's been in love with him, but it seems now she'll be happy just being his ally. In fact, this is something Hina pondered at the beginning of this arc, during the volleyball match against Gilbert. All the same, hopefully Hina will get some reward for her actions. Seriously, these chapters made me remember why she used to be my favourite character. She's simply great.

As for Athena, I wonder what sort of role will she be playing now. She's been rescued, and I guess she can live in peace now. Will she go back to Japan? If she does, will she become part of the regular cast? What impact would her presence have in the development of the story and the other characters? All the same, so far, she's been the damsel in distress, I guess it's time for her to start being of help to others and mainly to Hayate. All the girls have done a lot for Hayate, and while Athena did a lot for him 10 years ago, no matter how big the impact of her actions were on Hayate, that's in the past. If there's an Athena end, I think she's got to start helping Hayate, so that in the end it won't seem unfair for the other girls.

No matter how many favorites I have here or any other series, it's chapters like these and early on in the series as well, Hina will be the only one at the top of my favorites list. She will not lose points even if Hayate decides to pick another character (if he decides to).

Naturally there's no way to tell right now how things are going to develop, but I feel that this is the core question where we I have to disagree. I'm sure that she'll remain being his ally. Which indicates why I'm feeling such a _strong_ empathy for Hina. Her love is of the "right" kind. Her first priority is the well-being and happiness of the one she loves, not her own. She consistently places his interests over her own selfish ones. During the volleyball match. During the dinner resolution when she pushed him to see Athena. During the showdown, when she equipped him and sent him to save Athena while she handled the "small fries". But in the end, her "reward" is seeing the guy she loves in the arms of someone else. At the moment she's a very tragic character. And yes, I demand some kind of reward (and the fact that it was purposely withheld is _my_ consolation here, because in my opinion she significantly boosted her long-range chances in this chapter).

So I hope that she'll be able to somehow find the heart to carry on with her normal positive self rather than her hurt-mopey one. But if this manga is going to end without her able to blow all the karma points she accumulated over the course of this story, I'll be very unsatisfied.

Good point. But it is too early for her to give up right now, cause I heard that the changes of her relationship with Hayate will take place in the further chapter. Someday, somehow, it WILL happen. And Mentar, yes, I am being envy of Athena as well.

Speaking of Maria, well, she will play more roles as a major supportive character in the further chapters since she a lady who is full of mysteries.

To all Hina fans in this forum, please be patient, the miracle that we are wishing for will soon make it happen. Cause Hata had made a prediction on it.

As an addition, I asked a TL to translate the final exchange between Isumi and Hina. It underlines things very well:

By the way guys, I'm glad many of you are back to the thread. It had been quite silent here, for a while. Hopefully, the other girls will receive development in the next arc, so that the other members will also start posting in this thread again.

Anyway, just as I wouldn't write Hina's chances out, I'd say the same about Maria. Sure, at the moment she's been a gag character, but she really had no role in this arc (well, she's supposed to know Athena, but I guess we'll know about that later), so at the very least she added some comedy. All the same, you guys can be sure she'll have a birthday arc and she'll receive development there, you can bet your right eye on it.

Time for the big teary showdown-resolution in c260, I'd say.

Hopefully, the other girls will receive development in the next arc, so that the other members will also start posting in this thread again. Anyway, just as I wouldn't write Hina's chances out, I'd say the same about Maria. Sure, at the moment she's been a gag character, but she really had no role in this arc (well, she's supposed to know Athena, but I guess we'll know about that later), so at the very least she added some comedy. KoroshiyaX X Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Toronto	You guys forget that Athena is also a chairman of Hakuo Academy, so it would actually be quite easy to find a reason for her to return to Japan along with everyone else.
