I just hope the author never becomes a teacher. The MCs monologue to the middle schoolers was one of the most shallow ones I have ever heard (actually it would work, you just have to say it fast and with enough confidence and the more stupid ones might think you are saying something really smart, the smarter ones are smart enough to just pity you and be quiet).
Well, the comedy is the best part of this series I guess. |

^ Yep.
And firstly you are underestimating middle schoolers and secondly, it wasn't shallow in not containing deep philosophical concepts. He was speaking about the importance of math in real life. However, it was just a bunch of sentences like "Many things in life are similar to math problems, just not said in the same way as test questions" (examples? no? ) and "Math is one of the humanity's greatest inventions" (in what way?) and "we use math in everyday life" (yep, but that are the things till 5th grade or such not the ones middle-schoolers learn). He just kept on blabbering similar sentences without examples or real logic. Not saying that math isn't important. I always rather liked math classes and as I am studying IT at my university there are many uses for it, but for most people the math they learn after 6th grade IS of no use. Actually much more important than the knowledge itself is the exercise in using their brain in this way and there are many other things to say, but just not what the MC was saying. Well there were even worse misunderstandings about teaching and teacher-teacher (in front of students) interaction, but whatever. |

^Didn't he say construction, designing, measurement related jobs requires math
Also said that adults unconsciously using middle school math to solve their daily financial problems Still, the reaction of the students is divided as he said, some nodded in understanding, some puzzled, and some not satisfied And the footnote for that chapter shows that the author not insisting that his view on the matter is the truth. If it were you, how would you explain to them?

^ Firstly, I would be a terrible teacher.
As for what to do better about the monologue. Firstly, make it shorter (they are not gonna listen to a thing like this longer than 30s anyway), secondly make concrete examples (not field, exactly how and where) where the math is used, which examples really depends on the grade and their intellect (can go from pythagoras in geology and architecture up to wave functions in music they listen to). It's also a good idea to let them think up some examples using some hints as they have to stop thinking about it being useless and start thinking from the other side, thus much easier adapting the reverse opinion. But well, except for this it's rather decent (well calling out teacher during class to the corridor like a brat is gonna make his authority go somewhere where nobody will ever find it, but whatever). |

^I have a feeling they will still come up with the conclusion that it is indeed useless
Well, the correct answer would be, as you said, useless But to me, the important of math is to rewire your brain to at least function systematically Right Left Brain thingy Too bad he rejected that middle school girl

^ Yep, but you can't say this to the usual kids, on the other hand, the smart might get this (actually, this about it really being useless is exactly what my math teacher told me in middle-school).
Let's give the poor girl another chance. We can still hope for her to adopt the "even so I won't give up" attitude. Though frankly said, she does not have any character to speak of, so letting her be a heroine would need some development anyway. |

^I had hoped that she persisted... Coz she's not just a random character, she's the girl MC saved earlier in the story
But it seems she was brought back just to prove the point that MC is not a lolicon Btw, know more novels where people have high opinion on MC behind his back like this? Not on your face ego wank like Kenja no Mago or Yaritsukai

I'm putting it on hold, it'll better to read when the arc is done.
I don't like the teaching arc though, since I don't find it interesting. I also not fond of the author keep introducing many new characters and giving them screen time instead of the girls. Just why ..?
