Also, as they would be the first on the battlefield, they would likely be the ones to find any little surprises by the enemy, such as caltrops, etc, and also get a close look at the enemy formation, and thus possiby be able to spot any shenannigans the enemy might be trying to pull. Again, all this would be to the benefit of the main fighting force. Doubtless the mostly Human Empire considers orcs expendable, and so would likely employ them that way. |

yes, but at the moment the only one capable of doing so is allied with the jsdf. And did you forget that nowadays we have sniper rifles capable of hitting a target from 1000 m with no problem??(with record at about 2000). Without considering they can just fill the land around with mines so that even if their formation is broken the moment the enemies assault they would explode.Or that a jet would be too fast for human eyes to target.

@top I dont quite understand the vanguard bit. please rewind and retell XD
@hata airforce? the empire? dont think a couple of griffon riders or even hueg ass birds could be effective in total war. if a dragon... well... that's another story. if this was a game, then the dragon would be their superweapon... assuming they even caught one.

Classically, the Vanguard was the first part of a force moving through enemy territory to encounter the enemy. So maybe the Empire considers its orcs to be expendable. It seemed like they were the first through the Gate into Tokyo, IIRC.

Love the step by step illustration of how to hunt down a flying dragon using modern military equipment.LoL
They are saying they need F-4s to force the dragon to go below 50m then pin down the dragon with suppressive fire with artillery while attacks helicopters fire their TOW missiles and MTBs fire APFSDS and finally send in special forces to confirm kill. They mention that it would be impossible to take down the dragon with an AAM due to it's lack of fire power since the dragon has armor of a 3rd generation MBT. |
