Spring 2015 title: Etotama

Synopsis:

The anime's story revolves around Nya-tan, the cat of Chinese astrology who wants to become a member of the Chinese zodiac. Nya-tan is simple and suffers from memory loss, and she tries various foolish ways to become a member. She meets Takeru Tendo, a high school student who lives alone in Akihabara, and becomes a freeloader at his house. Little by little, she gets closer to her goal.

That was cute I guess? Lol. I'm not sure how much I can stand that Nyaa-tan girl though. And also, there's quite a bunch of characters in this so I wonder how it will find time to highlight each of them.

Besides that, the comedy bits felt silly and artwork is meh so far. Mixed feelings on this.

Unutterably stupid, and yet the time seemed to flash by. I ended up liking Murakawa Rie as Nya-tan, even though I disliked the voice at first. And self-referential humour always pleases me.

One thing I can unreservedly praise is the coloration. And the 3DCG SD battle ended up being enjoyable -- maybe partly because it didn't last too long, but also because it simply looked good, to me.

I liked the ED song, too (sung by Murakawa Rie, backed by other seiyuu).

The animal/magic aspect of this show reminded me of the similarly stupid but still sometimes entertaining Renkin 3-kyuu Magical? Pokahn (2006).

That was very very silly, in just the kind of silly way that I like.
I was hoping for something enjoyably daft this season, and this fits the bill quite nicely.

Didn't expect the Lucky Star reference early on.

I found the entire thing pretty hilarious tbh.
Was cracking up at the constant gags and jokes they kept throwing at us, and before we can stop to go "this is so silly" it jumps right into the next set of jokes.

Well, I thought the first ep sorta worked here and there humor wise and sorta did not. Still no clear read on the series at present (maybe no surprise) but maybe will give it another ep or two?

I thought this was just going to be a stupid ecchi-moe harem but boy was I wrong. The gags and meta level humor were really on the mark. It also has some of the best 3D Cel shaded CG I've ever seen, which made the battle really awesome to watch.

The fight scene is something of a game-changer: that's a production level CG fight scene that looks like Anime. That's a big, big change. We've seen some shorts with that quality already, so it was just a matter of time.

Granted, given the way the Japanese operate, it's going to be a while before someone really pushes it to where it can go.

I thought it was pretty bad, to be honest. Comedy almost didn't work and I hardly was able to finish the episode.
