...I think you're reading a little too much into it. I love Dragonball, but it really doesn't try to be all that deep.
But I did forget that Gohan's transformation is inherently tied to 16's end, so I suppose it can be seen as sad from that perspective. Still, it's more 16's final moments that are sad, not really Gohan's transformation sequence itself. Also, robots don't go to heaven, but 'kay. |

Never made much sense to me how seeing 16 die set him off like that, I mean he really didn't ever have any interaction with him prior to this, did he? Not only that but he's seen people die before and not had this reaction. Maybe it's just the timing of it, being in the middle of a fight, already in SSJ form, etc.

I have 7 reasons (as many as the Dragonballs) of why I think Kai is trolling me.
1) At first it was presented as a remake. Trolled! 2) Then it promised great new animation and even tricked us with that OVA that came out a bit earlier. Trolled! 3) Then it promised great new sountrack. Trolled! (don't tell me DORKY DORKY PARAPLEGIC beats SHALA E SHALA) 4) Then it promised to be 100% filler-free. Trolled! 5) Then it promised to be 100 episodes. Trolled! 6) Then it told us it will end where the OVA follows and that DBGT and SSJ4 are not canon. Trolled! 7) And finally it demands from us to buy the exact same thing all over again. |

Wait, don't tell me they interrupted Goku's most badass moment in the series... I'd really prefer to watch that in one go rather than have it serve as a cliffhanger and having it being spread over two episodes despite being a short moment.
If so, oh well... |

Yeah, I especially love the part where the punches fly so fast they blast fist craters through the rocky terrain. I only wish they did that effect more often
No, it ended with Spoiler for Z Spoiler:
I was incredibly surprised how much the next episode covers and that the big announcement is shown in the previews. I thought they'd try to keep it "secret" for drama's sake. |

Yep you were right, i totally didn't see the episode ending at that part.
My god what an episode. This part of the fight was always my favourite part of the manga, so it was a shame to see it spread out so much in Z, though thankfully it's not adapted perfectly. The pacing of the fight is just so damn good, plus the edition of epic sound effects and music placement make this one hell of an episode.
