...I think you're reading a little too much into it. I love Dragonball, but it really doesn't try to be all that deep.

But I did forget that Gohan's transformation is inherently tied to 16's end, so I suppose it can be seen as sad from that perspective. Still, it's more 16's final moments that are sad, not really Gohan's transformation sequence itself.

Also, robots don't go to heaven, but 'kay.

Superbly Animated Episodes
1) Vegeta vs. Recoome
2) Goku vs. Freeza (4th episode in Z)
3) Piccolo's first encounter with Cell,
4) Super Vegeta vs. 2nd Form Cell (3rd episode in Z)
5) Super Vegeta vs. Perfect Cell (2nd episode in Z, where he does the Final Flash)
6) 3rd Grade SSJ Trunks vs. Perfect Cell (2nd episode in Z)
7) Cell Juniors massacring the Z warriors (also featuring Gohan's SSJ2 transformation)
8) SSJ2 Gohan vs. FP (Full Powered) Perfect Cell
9) The beam struggle between Gohan and Cell

These are just to name a few .
Nice list, but I'd like to give a mention to Kaioken Goku vs. Vegeta, too...mainly just for that kickass fireball scene (around the 1:10 mark). I don't know why that particular 4-5 seconds made such an impact on my memory even after all these years.

Agreed, that scene is really memorable and a very well crafted piece of animation. Love the way how in one second Goku seems so distant and then in the next he appears out of nowhere from the right of the screen, kicking Vegeta into hell and back.

Never made much sense to me how seeing 16 die set him off like that, I mean he really didn't ever have any interaction with him prior to this, did he? Not only that but he's seen people die before and not had this reaction. Maybe it's just the timing of it, being in the middle of a fight, already in SSJ form, etc.

Yeah i know about their being other very well animated scenes for the series, though what we'll see in next weeks episode is just personally my favorite.

I have 7 reasons (as many as the Dragonballs) of why I think Kai is trolling me.

1) At first it was presented as a remake. Trolled!
2) Then it promised great new animation and even tricked us with that OVA that came out a bit earlier. Trolled!
3) Then it promised great new sountrack. Trolled! (don't tell me DORKY DORKY PARAPLEGIC beats SHALA E SHALA)
4) Then it promised to be 100% filler-free. Trolled!
5) Then it promised to be 100 episodes. Trolled!
6) Then it told us it will end where the OVA follows and that DBGT and SSJ4 are not canon. Trolled!
7) And finally it demands from us to buy the exact same thing all over again.

Now Ep 89 is interesting, for the reason it ends in the middle of something.

Those were never promised.

I can easily guess where it'll stop.

Wait, don't tell me they interrupted Goku's most badass moment in the series... I'd really prefer to watch that in one go rather than have it serve as a cliffhanger and having it being spread over two episodes despite being a short moment.

If so, oh well...

Didn't the episode end like that in Z as well?

Yeah, I especially love the part where the punches fly so fast they blast fist craters through the rocky terrain. I only wish they did that effect more often

No, it ended with
Spoiler for Z Spoiler:

I was incredibly surprised how much the next episode covers and that the big announcement is shown in the previews. I thought they'd try to keep it "secret" for drama's sake.

They have done quite a few times, so it's not impossible.

In that case I prefer the current ending than the old Z ending.

They've blown the whistle in the previews a lot more times than they kept the secret. It's just business as usual to kick the spoilers into overdrive in Kai's previews

While I don't like how the dub adds lines, this one was time where it helped push the point across. As the bird is flying, Gohan laments that A16 loved life so much that he was willing to give his own to protect it. Despite that, Gohan personally allowed him to die by refusing to unleash his power and rage. The thought that such a gentle giant died because of his inaction flipped the switch in his head and set him off.

When was this ever said, and how has it been negated?

Added to what Shiroth said to you, Kai was always known as a "cut" that would adhere more closely to the manga. Seriously, if you're going to complain about something, at least know what you're talking about.

Yep you were right, i totally didn't see the episode ending at that part.

My god what an episode. This part of the fight was always my favourite part of the manga, so it was a shame to see it spread out so much in Z, though thankfully it's not adapted perfectly. The pacing of the fight is just so damn good, plus the edition of epic sound effects and music placement make this one hell of an episode.
