For the closed room scenarios that'd make sense, though I think the room would also be completely wrecked if a bomb exploded, which they weren't. Therefore I think it might've been commited in a more complex way.

Also in an explosion a corpse would be heavily mutilated by burns. Also most of the deaths were caused by piercing certain parts of of the body which a bomb can only do if it contains shrapnel.

Being living beings ensures that they can reproduce in one form or another as it is natural. Sure spending time in an alternate dimension devoid of other people does mean that chance might never come but it doesn't mean it's impossible.
