Really pleased to see Kuroneko upset Eu. And by one lone vote no less! Pretty epic.

Nice to see Toki win, but her competition wasn't exactly the stiffest in the world.

And if people don't want Mikoto to repeat, now's the time to get behind an opponent of her's, imo. Taiga is probably just strong enough to knock off Mikoto if people dislike the idea of a repeat champion.

Now I'm certain that the Kugimiya Rie and/or Shana fanbases made Shana lose to Saber on purpose. They're probably afraid that winning the stella circlet will produce a lot of anti-votes during the matches for the tiara. They're laying low until Shana's has to fight against the top tier characters during postseason 2.
Because of this they're probably trying to give Taiga the Stella circlet instead. She has a decent chance at beating Mikoto, so I hope she'll do it.

And wow, I didn't expect Eu to lose to Kuroneko. It seems that just like last year, Kuroneko becomes stronger during the postseason.

Finally ISML appreciating Kuroneko as much as she deserves , I am happy she won it and epic to win by that low of a margin.

Now if only she could upset Kanade, it'd be a dream come true .

Eucliwood lost? I liked the both of them anyway, though I did vote for Eucliwood...

If you don't want Mikoto to repeat you should actually vote for her against Taiga. Losing here doesn't eliminate Mikoto, it'll just tip off her fanbase to work harder during the combined division finals. If Mikoto beats Taiga, she'll attract more anti-votes for winning a Circlet. These anti-votes will work against her in matches where she can be permanently eliminated.

Honestly, I'm very skeptical of the role that anti-voting supposedly plays in ISML.

Did Kanade ever get anti-voted in 2011?

No, Kanade loss to Shana because of a Facebook widget that drew in loads of JC Staff fans that weren't voting before (and keep in mind that I say that as a big Shana fan). Those JC Staff fans setup a Shana vs. Mikoto final, and then the vast majority of them went with Mikoto.

Honestly, if not for that Facebook widget I think that Kanade likely would have had a perfect 2011 season and won it all.

Personally, I think that momentum-building has a bigger effect in ISML than anti-voting does. And you build momentum by winning all the time.

The #1 seed from regular season has in ISML history never won the tiara, just saying .

Well, I explained why Kanade never won it all in 2011. Do you contest that explanation?

And ISML now draws more voters than it did prior to 2011.

Anti-voting is at its most effective with smaller total voter bases, imo. That's why I do think that anti-voting still plays a big role in J-SaiMoe. I'm really not convinced that anti-voting has played a significant role in ISML over the past two years though.

If anybody thinks it does, I'd be interested in seeing what 2011/2012 matches they can point to where anti-voting is the most logical reason for why a certain outcome occurred.

2008 - Fate Testarossa (#1 seed in the regular season) won the tiara
2009 - Katsura Hinagiku (#11 seed) won the tiara
2010 - Mio Akiyama (#3 seed) won the tiara
2011 - Misaka Mikoto (#2 seed) won the tiara

(Wasn't around for ISML 2008 though)

Edit: http://2008.internationalsaimoe.com/standings.php
Two separate standings one for the postseason and one for the regular season.
(Just realized Fate, Tomoyo and Haruhi had the same win/loss record though)

If I'm reading the final bracket correctly, one side of the bracket could include Railgun, Shana, Taiga, Mio and (because of one vote) Euucliwood. I think at least one of the challengers mentioned could find a way to win against Railgun.

Fate's was post season only though I believe, as she had 3 loses in the regular, but I wasn't there so not sure exactly on that, and 2008 doesn't have same stats as shown as newer ones.

Well happy for Kuroneko, though since I did vote for Eu, it's a bit disappointing at the same time.

Plus I just didn't vote great in this round . Though did expect Taiga to topple Saber there.

Well, 2008 can always be an exception. The vote totals were low enough that a faction/club/forum rally can significantly change the results.
