The manga is gory by the looks of it. I suspect Production I.G will pitch this to the same audience as Blood+. So there will be blood, probably lots of it, but without too much detail. Blood+ somehow manages to get away with a lot of gore for it's 6pm timeslot...

Wah, I love the character designs... they look so refined and mature in there! It gives off such a good feeling! It totally pwns those Blood+ designs, definitely... although maybe they still look a bit too Japanese and not European enough (maybe deeper set eyes and more definite features for some of them would have helped?)

But I think the colour design isn't very good, the shadows in daytime look a bit unnaturally dark in some places and well, maybe it's just me but the colours don't seem very effective. They don't seem to harmonize that well... oh well.

Thanks for the caps, I envy you so much for being able to see it so fast! I hope it really is good; but I am doubtful as to whether IG can maintain teh quality. They should have followed the examples of studios like KyoAni and Bones who keep themselves to only 1 or 2 projects at a time.

edit: And I hope the story is good......................

It's more like special preview sort of thing. The actual show starts in August iirc. They had a 10 min thing with behind the scene stuff and some cast interviews. At least for this not sure about the others you mentioned.

I think it's like what they did with Ergo Proxy, a sort of advance first episode thing on Nonscramble WOWOW... but I thought Kemonozume's was not an entire episode, I heard it was only 10 minutes long. I suppose it isn't...

...But as a leechy, ungrateful little foreign brat who wants to eat her cake and have it, I want to see it anyway!!

EDIT: Maybe I misinterpreted it and so the extra stuff is only 10 minutes but they show the first episode anyway. Oohh...

In the beginning there was all the production stuff which was around 10 mins then they show you the episode which was around 25 mins in length with no OP and a ED.

I'm still getting conflicting info. So what is that 110mb cap floating around on you know where? Well I'll probably be able to check it out in a few hours anyway.

But from the caps (thanks), it sure looks good.

It will air at 7pm Tokyo time on WOWOW, relieving Ergo Proxy of it's slot once it's finished.

It will air in HDTV with 5.1 surround sound. =)

Drats... now we have to wait until mid-August.

Thankfully, there is other good stuff to fill the time.

Everyone is focused on d'Eon and his historical origins, but after watching episode 1 I am simply amazed at the ammount of historical figures.

King Louis XV and queen Maria are obviously there, but what about these fellas...

Madame de Pompadour, the king's lover. She introduces count Saint-Germain to the court.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madame_de_Pompadour

Count de Saint-Germain, apparently the villain of the story. Adventurer, spy and alchemist, he is said to have been a member of the Rosenkreuz, a masonic order. He is said to have foretold the French Revolution that would happen less that half a century from that time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comte_de_Saint-Germain

Note that both Saint-Germain and d'Eon are soon going to end up in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, together. Is this where the anime will take us?

OK, now here I am simply amazed.

Young Maximilien Robespierre!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximilien_Robespierre

Wow, this anime is definitely convoluted. I can wait to see how they'll tie all of these people together.

That and D'Eon and Lia becoming one pretty self, this show is probably the most exciting thing on my radar now.

PS: Did you know that Lia de Beaumont never existed in actual history? She was invented by Charles de Beaumont when he went to Saint-Petersburg disguised as a girl and claimed to be his own sister. 8)

Amazing.

This really whet my appetite.

Okay...
Spoiler:

but who cares? It's just too cool. The plot pacing just works by clockwork with no wasted scenes. Theres potential for more steam in this show than the one it will replace, thats for sure.

Hi there!

Well, at first, I'm french so I'm very interrested in that show ^_- Le Chevalier d'Eon is a very mythic figure in our history and our litterature...Well, his past helps a lot!!
I red an interview of the director of this anime in a french magazine and he said that he tried to stick to the historic reality but he introduced fantastic elements and reduced the plot in a shortest lap of time than in reality...^^ To me, this show will more look like 'Gankutsuou' than 'Blood +' ^^

Thx for caps, and I'm glad to see 'La Pompadour' in this (well, she was very intringant and smart woman!)

I long to see what this show look like!!

Drunk, desperate or both.

So does this guy in the anime maintains himself in a male wardrobe or wear female clothes normally?
