Then watch AIR The Movie. It's not an OVA but it has a really good story (though it's not really a happy one). Anyway, the story is closely similar to its TV series counterpart with an exception of some details

^ I second Air the Movie.
Voices of a Distant Star Beyond The Clouds Soukyuu no Fafner - Right of Left. Takes place before the Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor. Though i think it is best viewed after the series (as weird as it might sound) Triangle Heart

i'm a big fan of the older movie They Were Eleven -- plays out like a real sci fi movie, lots of mystery.
Tokyo Godfathers is fantastic -- though it's a movie. also movies are my three favorite tragedies of all time: Oseam, Dog of Flanders, Windaria if you are in a horror mood, go for Puppet Princess i could go on and on, but there's a few! |

I was wondering why everyone was recommending horror and vampire styles, then I looked at my list again.
Voices of a distant star is also awesome very touching story. Saw it on Tv a whle ago, wouldn't mind seeing it again. Tokyo godfathers looks great. I've seen it on sale so I'll pick it up this afternoon. |
