Mm-hm, now that he's no longer a pansy and somewhat less emo, I'd say fans would find him much more tolerable than before. Still, I kind of doubt he'd play protagonist again in another Metal Gear game if Kojima gets his wish.

The ending, like I said before, is rather bittersweet. The fact that Snake has rapidly aged reiterates one of the central themes of his character. He's a relic from an age of war long gone—a war that has changed in the present. Big Boss expresses the same sentiment when he says that the new world has no need of snakes, and tells Snake to spend his remaining days living in it.

Hideo Kojima hasn't denied the possibility of another Metal Gear game—just not about Solid Snake and under his direction—but unless we're talking about future prequels, just how will a new Metal Gear story arise from this? Pretty dramatic stuff in my opinion.

You know you played a wonderful game when you actually feel sad for finishing it.

It's irrelevant if she did it or not though, maybe Kojima simply did it to add the drama to the scene. Or perhaps Big Mama know that Snake had the new Foxdie in him, so she was going to die regardless and by urge she jumped in. Honestly, who knows but I'm going with the latter rather than the former.

I'm sad that there will be no more Solid Snake, to me he was Metal Gear. However, I will still check out a new game just for the simple fact that it's Metal Gear but without Kojima, it'll be interesting to see what they can mold since they have too much to live up to.

I would like to see a completely different story taking place several years after this game. As great as Snake Eater was to me it has already set the past of the story in great way so that it could transfer and connect to the games that occured in the future after the events of Snake Eater. The conflict that I think could arrive from a game featuring The Boss is that she has achieved such a legendary and mythical status that it seems that she has reached the status of a god, to the point that what we have seen from her is more than enough. We have seen what is the outcome of her death and how she affects the future of the world. If they all of a sudden made her human and revealed much more about her to me it would just be milking the story that has already concluded.

Maybe we need a new protagonist somebody who has knowledge of the heroes and everything that has occured prior to him but knows has to face a completely new situation. Raiden's son......Little John perhaps? Nah, I don't think so. lol

That's a hard thing to pull off. On the one hand, I'm sad to witness the end of an era (i.e., Solid Snake), but on the other hand I would prefer it if this tale ends here, where it ends on a high note.

Besides, the game can only go for the Big Boss clone bit a certain number of times before it becomes repetitive and predictable. I really have no idea what Konami will be doing with the series from here on, but suffice it to say that Metal Gear will never be the same with a non-Snake-like protagonist.

Now with this epic over, bring on ZOE3 Kojima!

I have heard excellent things from this game thus far. I really want it although I have no PS3. T'is a shame as I do have all the MGS games to date..exept ofcourse this one.

On the bright side, atleast I can get Dead or Alive 5 when it's out. ^^

Ah yes! Ofcourse! I read about that yesterday. He made a decision about that after he finished Ninja Gaiden II. Crap! Are their any decent future-released games that I can get? MGS4 is bad enough because I can't get that.

I'm at the part where I just beat Raging Raven. Here's what I dont get. When Eva was explaining about the Patriots she mention herself,Big Boss,Signit,Paramedic and Zero are in the Patriots. She said Zero created the Patriots after The Boss dies. I thought Patriots existed before that. Can somebody explain?

In Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater the old patriots died out as explained by The Boss. The Boss Naked Snake's mentor is the only living bloodline of the patriots. She had a baby also, but was taken from her. Zero founded a new patriot organization.

There was never "The Patriots" until Zero created them. Back then they were known as "The Philosophers" and had members from Russia, China and America. When they disbanded the american philosophers got the fund, then Zero had Ocelot steal the billion dollar fund from the american philosophers and the "american philosophers" became "The Patriots" and now we know who were the original members of the patriots.

Also another fact is that in the ending of Metal Gear Soild Sons of Liberty in the ending when Snake contacts Otacon(Dr. Banner LOL!) Otacon replies that the Patriots are dead and the mystery was still unsolved. Then later explained in MSG Snake eater that they died out and now MGS4 is giving us another hint and mystery about there transformation to biological weapons. The philosophers are about money unlike the patriots they have somekind of hold in wars going on.

Yaay! I just beat the game and I like the ending and the last fight....so very movie-like. It's a good end for the MGS saga

To be honest they actually prepared a very interesting future for the Metal Gear franchise. If they decide to follow the Solid continuity, and not scrap it entirely and have a new parallel universe. By the end of MGS4 the war economy is destroyed by Foxalive, and America is in complete economic chaos (not to mention all the other wars around the world with the PMCs are not ruined). This means that the militias and other forces not controlled by the SOP system are causing chaos around the world without the PMCs stopping them.

It would be awesome if the next Metal Gear starts off with an entirely new character, but a few years or maybe a decade ahead of MGS4. With Snake implied to be dead, he'll live on as a legend like Big Boss/The Boss in the game. They could also start off the game with America crushed, and dissolved into warring states. The game would basically be about uniting America again, and defending her from invading countries.

Just a thought .
