I don't really feel particularly sorry for anyone here. Even without the kizna system these are normal things that happen to human beings. Outside of the whole pain sharing thing, it's really nothing out of the ordinary. And the only one who actually got hurt was the one guy who can't feel pain anyway.
Not to say that this wasn't an excellent episode. I mean it feels like everything that happened before today was building up to this moment. |

Episode 9...
Wow what an episode. We knew the pitfall was coming; it always does eventually. I think we all expected something like this to happen, especially given the Kiznaiver program's track record of failure. Didn't make it any less painful to watch. I'm wondering if Nori was placed in a similar situation and chose to jump in Katsuhira's memories as a way of sacrificing herself to save the others somehow. There's 3 episodes left for them to overcome this. While there was foreshadowing, I thought they'd take another episode till things fell apart. I'm hoping they do something special with the Kiznaiver bond. Or maybe, it's the other way. Quote:
It's disappointing that he's kinda just been there, or atleast that's how I felt. He's getting some development now, but it feels a little late. There was some sparse development over the series, but it didn't seem to stick. That's probably due to the writers wanting to build up the mystique of his and Nori's past. I'm hoping his pain-insensitivity reveals some sort of purpose for the show. Poor Nico, forgotten in the jumping block. I probably felt bad for her the most, even though the focus seemed more on Chidori, but like Katsuhira, I wish she'd gotten more development. Nico's case is better than his though. Felt sorry for Chidori, especially getting reality thrown in her face like that. Harsh. Last edited by Wolfpack; 2016-06-04 at 13:05. |

This is like teenage hormones amplified 1000% and released all at the same time. It was an absolute trainwreck and I loved it. Ah, poor Nico. I can't help but feel more for her than everyone else right now.
Also loved the red lens flaressssssss. God, I fuckin loved the lens flares. |

Awesome episode, I really loved it. I also don't particularly feel sorry for anyone, but I'm not sure it was really the main aim. It just the natural evolution of this kind of insane experiment, it something we were expecting and it came splendidly, but maybe the last bits with the repetition of it that same line. I was hoping to hear something coming from Yuta and Maki, but it cant be helped since they are the more stable of the bunch so it makes sense they were the more collected.
Speaking of Katsuhira, I guess that it's also a point of him, to be just there. He in fact even in this big moment was just there. He still couldn't feel any pain. And he feels sorry for it. Somehow he and Nori-chan are the same since she is out of the kiznavier ring, but even Katsuhira, despite being part of it, is not truly in. Poor Nico, she is the one I felt the most too. Great line, be hurt properly. And poor Sonozaki, the moment she finally stepped in the bunch the system stepped ahead with this "hearing the voice of the heart" thing that pushed her back to where she was. Or so she thought. I'm really curious to see how the dynamics will change after this episode. I suppose they will separate for a while until the teachers will bring some new trial.

Unrequited love hurts.
This was pretty much what would naturally happen when you try to force people to bond with something like the Kiznaiver project. People are fragile and while they can keep some feeling bottled up, those feeling can eventually come bursting out. It makes sense that Yuta, Maki, and Hisomu were the most composed considering how they seem to the most mature out of the group. The fact that they aren't dealing with any unrequited feelings also helps. You could also tell at the end that Kacchon wanted to feel the pain too, but he just couldnot and was actually upset by that. Poor Nico. She had a good line about getting hurt properly.

You know unlike some people, I find it quite easy to identify and empathize with the painless kid. Him being bland and emotionless is kind of expected considering his situation... I'm not sure what else you would expect.

I never thought I would feel far more sorry for Nico than any o the other characters when this show began, and yet she is the one who has developed the most out of all the Kiznaivers...
I mean, I really felt it for her, with her determination to get rejected properly and Sonozaki fucking up her chance... Either way, this was the inevitable result of this experiment, specially with the people involved Also, I'm unable to feel any sympathy for Sonozaki or whatever reasons she may hold for continuing the experiment, even if she herself is a victim of an earlier phase, in here she is the willing tormentor of a bunch of people

this episode is a distillation of everything I like and hate from teenage drama
It did vindicated a few theories I had, though You can't force people to be friends Some things can not be shared equally, because You can't force someone to like everyone else equally If you attempted to quantify friendship, that always be capitalist instead of socialist Friends of friends are not necessary friends. 3rd wheels happen because of reasons above

ep 9
Man, what a heavy episode. I agree with some of the others here that "trainwreck" definitely adequate term here, but a rare case meaning here would be different than the norm in anime.
I guess the question is where the show goes from here? The experiment is still on-going, but there no way can continue in their state and there doesn't seem to be any clear answers to repair the situation. Quote:

Episode 9:
Wow, the feeling of being rejected and letting your deep thoughts leaked out to the rest of the Kiznaivers is very painful! Now then, while I have to say that the program could be a failure, I think the committee would continue it no matter what. |

Man, I feel like I should like this episode because it had the most amount of suffering in it but something about it feels hollow and artificial. Also, I don't think the scenes went far enough. I wonder how the last 3 episodes will go. Well I hope they are better than this.

Well, the reactions are artificial because they are mostly induced. That's the reason we, the viewers, didn't feel that much for our protagonists, and why I also think it wasn't the point.
To me it's like the episode was (over)loaded of suffering/drama letting to the viewer the job to find what to take from it, that is about the characters and not strictly their emotions (bar probably Katsuhira and Sonozaki). That's the reason Nico stood out, since she kinda fought back and didn't suffer passively the events. In contrast to Chidori. Or Tenga that is just a moron. Speaking of which I just realized, if I'm not wrong, that in the end he did left Nico alone, despite what Yuta told him. Now it would be interesting if he actually hit Sonozaki. He already heavily beat Katsuhira after all.
