Ah, thanks! That does make sense that in the end, it was all about her trying to regain power. Of course, the one main flaw in her way of thinking is what bit her in the end: Did she really believe that the queen, the one with the real power who intentionally passed her over as next in line to the thrown, does not know what she had done? She can get in good graces with the King and the Church all she wants, but the person with the real power is her mom. The biggest of which is especially trying to kill her sister. I guess she really doesn't think things through.

It's fare for me to say something in Motoyasu's defense, but after he got off of that Myne was lying and using him since the beginning, it's understandable he doesn't consider her a friend anymore.

Heck, I'd more buy it out of the king since he seemed to have more genuine and strong conviction in his hatred of Naofumi but he's too old to be a threat on his own.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the queen keeps closer watch on both moving forward to make sure they don't act up again.
I don't know. I also don't believe that she has the will or fortitude to rise above her limits. However, if various forms of fictions has ever taught me, even stupidity has the trait of never giving up; even if it doesn't help them one bit....

Finally, the most anticipated episode of the show is here.

Naofumi taking the high road was expected. He's still a bit of a softie. But it is the right move, IMO. If ever Bitch plot her revenge against him, no one's gonna complain when Naofumi somehow kills her because he already gave Bitch a chance.

I would have prefered they lost their lives after all the things they did. I know I am in the minority here, but I had some sense of dissatisfaction with them still living.

In the meta sense, I am more a firm believer in the Gollum Clause. The protag need to leave a villain, minor or not, live so that one may help destroy a greater scope villain or at least shed some light on the motivations and plans of someone. That have been used in animated series before such as Death Note.

Maybe Siltvelt would take care of that, especially when they find out what Trash & Bitch tried to do with their revered hero.

Perhaps. But I never like leaving evil people alive. Especially ones who are responsible for the death of innocence. But like I said, I know I am in the minority with this.

Myne tried to kill her sister, overthrow and probably intended to bump off her mother since there was literally nothing else that would stop her from his just having another Daughter to replace her youngest as heir. The King willingly summoned all four heroes despite the implications and treated one of those heroes like garbage for personal reasons, the former of which I can justify in my head but the latter of which isn't befitting of a ruler.

Death or at the very least imprisonment would be the smart thing here.

Having a rival nation that they've had past issues with bump off two members or royalty probably wouldn't end well. At the very least, it'd cause tensions to flare up enough that violence might break out without the Queen's consent. I wouldn't put it past someone like Idol to use that as justification for committing more atrocities at the very least.

If they were going to be put to the sword, it should have been by the Queen's hand.

Yeah, summoning and hoarding all the heroes is already a diplomatic dick move by Melromarc. Siltvelt would be itching for war once they found out about Naofumi's suffering.

The Queen is the real MVP here for her efforts to cool down tensions and focus on the greater threat.

What did the previous Shield hero do to Melromarc that made him this salty and hateful ?? Was it ever mentioned in the manga or is it spoiler material ??

I still have to wonder given they've still been so vague about it. Even the queen didn't elaborate on it, either because she didn't know or didn't think it was her story to tell since it was so personal to her husband.

On another topic, is it fine for Naofumi to terminate the slave contracts now? I mean, he'll be able to get party members now that his name is already clear.

If it was ever revealed I never read to that point or completely forgot about it so all I can do is guess:

Going by how the Shield Hero is revered by Demihumans he probably choose to assist them in a wave, causing someone close to the King to die. That is what you can guess from his words about wanting to loose someone due to the shield hero again.

It's also possible that he was one of the adventurers that went along with the heroes, in any case he must have done something for the queen to even consider him a possible husband.

That presumes he trusts others enough to take on a new party member. Besides, Raph took it on willingly and her growth is influenced by slave-user shield bonus. He has no reason to drop hers because she wouldn't let him.

As for what the previous shield hero did, no they're being vague about it and never mentioned it. I think its spoilers from a LN further ahead of this one.

Technically yes, but the moment Raphtalia got herself a new contract the author made it clear that she and Filo are going to stay that way.

spoiler material from the WN(LN too, probably); not mentioned in the manga.

it's something that either the anime did different or forgot to mention; I will put it inside spoiler tags just in case they mention it in the next episodes, since they still have the chance.

Spoiler:

It feels like they didn't know how to end all these and decided to give everyone a happy ending to tie up the loose ends.

I still have some questions but they would probably be answered next episode
