They are called exclusive because they are not readily available and with limited supply. Pretty similar to prototype catapults.

I need a bit help with the monthly Nightmare fleet - for some reason I can't get to the boss in a status where my ships can still S rank it or not at all.

My fleet:
Yuudachi lv 97 ,Poi gun 12.7B*6, 12.7b, Flashlight *6
Akatsuki 96, 10cmHA +AACi, 10cmHA, T13AR
Bucky, 93, 10cmHA +AACi * 4, 10cmHA +AACi *2
Kawakaze, 78, 10cmHA,10cmHA, t22 SR
Zara42, Zuin >> 203mm/53, 203mm/53, Zuin >>
Yodo 74 , Recon, ,recon, recon ,Yasen Recon, Recon

Makes 74.92 ELos, removing even one of the radars is apparently already enough to not reach the required los, which is basically why I hado to make Yodo useless :/

Any suggestions?

Your HQ level is at a much higher level so you need more equipment to meet the LOS requirement?
Do you have a Obs plane and some spare zuiuns? Upgrade it several times to get more LOS. Your Zara is pretty low level and 203mm has -2 ACC. I recommend using the 20.3cm series instead.

Use LOS Formula 33 since that takes into account upgrades. You need a value of 33+ using this formula.

Nightmare fleet will always go north route since it has 4 DD and no CV (or 2 AV). So, you can change Akatsuki's T13 for a surface radar. Replace one of Zara's zuiun with a recon plane as it will give more LOS. Under Formula 33, recon plane has an equipment modifier of 1.2 (seaplane bomber is 1.1).

I didn't even understand what quest you were talking about esp you didn't even use its usual name so I was assuming you were talking about 3-5 (monthly and EO are pretty much the same damn thing). At least be more descriptive next time.
I just don't bother with that quest. it is a waste of time and resource in general.

I think he's talking about Bm7 which wants you to clear 2-5 with 1CA1CL4DD.

1. Use the new formula 33. It's exactly what it says on the tin; you need to score more than 33 with the new formula to ensure entry to boss node in 2-5.
2. You don't need any AA for 2-5 northern route. And you're locked to northern route with 1CA1CL4DD.
3. Replace Ooyodo with Abukuma K2. The benefit should be obvious.
4. Replace Zara with a strong, preferably K2 CA. Zara's slot is too small for aerial bombing to be effective. Besides, you'll likely need to go into night battle to seal the deal, and Zara class is weaker than japanese CA in terms of night firepower.
5. Finally, this quest really doesn't pay well enough to worth the hassle. If screws are what you're after, just turn a medal in for four.

Well, he did use the phrase monthly Nightmare Fleet which was the translation given for BM7 in KC3 Kai (I assumed the translator/editor was being very salty here).
And his fleet composition did reflect that.

Unfortunately, this quest is one of the reqs for the 2nd Prototype Catapult... which I am now also stuck doing, and hence need all the advice

As for CL, use Oh!Yodo and put your best recon planes in two slots. That should help with LoS. That monthly is AIDS.

Actually, somehow I managed to do it simply by getting Kawakaze out of my exped fleet (she's my only daihatsu DD at this time) and letting her kick ass every once in a while

For those who still has more than 2 hours for Expedition 30 and is doing the jet plane quest, send a fleet to Expedition 31.

I just finished Expedition 30 and the quest is only 50% complete. So, I need to do another Expedition 30.
There has been reports of people completing the quest when they sent Expedition 30 and then sent Expedition 31 concurrently.

EDIT: There are confirmed reports of people completing the quest by finishing Expedition 31 after 30.

Some people reported that even if you finished expedition 30 before 31, it will be validated once your expedition 31 is over. It is worth trying before sending another expedition 30.

Just finished Expedition 31 and the quest is cleared!

And the next expedition quest is unlocked at 50% complete. Will send another Expedition 31 to see if it raise the completion rate.

EDIT: Finishing Expedition 31 raised the completion rate for the 2nd expedition quest from 50% to 80%.

As expected, the second sub expedition quest has an engine as a reward and another craft quest is unlocked for a second engine: you have to scrap 2 Type 52 and have 2 Ryuusei, 2 Reppuu and 2000 steel.

So as I stated before, both jet planes are available for everyone. Rankers have the luxury of crating more Keiun Kai by upgrading prototype keiun, but since there are only 2 carriers that can use them and they are pretty fragile against medium/heavy AA, I believe it is more or less pointless to have more than 2 jets.

With all things considered, it is pretty clear that more jets/planes will be introduced for crafting or modding, so keeping any spare 3*+ planes is a good idea. Thank goodness I kept like 30 ryuusei for that kind of situation.

The question that remains is just whether its a bug or a feature, given that the text only talks about one of them.

As for the 'Nightmare fleet' - As someone already said its the name in KC3; I just didn't take a look at how 2-5 looks and automatically associated it with Yuudachi since she is one of the more likely ships to bring.

Is there any way to unlock more fleet templates? The 3 you get are kinda not enough for daily switching :/

Preset slots come from the same item that unlocks construction and dockyard slots.

In a nutshell:
-More submarine
-Akizuki and Matsu-class DD incoming
-An escort carrier will also be introduced
-Asakaze's consort ship will show up next year (so most likely Matsukaze)
-Saratoga will have another remodel
-F4F series will be upgradable into F6 series
-They plan adding more jets (fighter type) but also Antisubmarine Aircraft Toukai
-They also plan more stuff involving the foreign ships
