The only way to win in casino games is to play by math. Double your bet every game and play at least 10. If you win one, the doubled bet will cover your losses.

That is of course, if you have plenty of dosh. You guys are lucky enough not having to pay $100 to get into a casino.

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

Only game I play at the Casino is Roulette, I don't know how to play cards well enough and pokies are a waste of time (seriously, why bother - may as well burn the money). Go in with $50 never any more and once its gone that's it, minimum bet on a colour and either odd's or evens (like $2 on each, so $4 in total). It's a slow and arduous process, IIRC (I havent done it in a fair number of years, and can't remember the proper layout of the table) you have something like a 25% chance of winning, 25% chance of losing, and a 50% chance of breaking even. That's probably wrong but its the general idea, probably more like 50% chance of losing, 25% chance wining or breaking even... whatever.

I did it about a dozen times and only three or four of those times I lost it all or came out with less then I went in with, best win was something like $550 after 2.5 hours admittedly I did place a bet on a number once at the insistence of the immensely bored-out-of-her-skull-dealer-from-my-antics which flukeishly came up, paid for my drinks that holiday not bad for 2.5 hours. My friend followed what I did after a while, had to spot him $50 though. I still hold that I got extremely lucky in all cases however and I've never been back. I don't really like gambling don't care for it or risk taking, I like as sure a thing as I can get.

Don't mind horse racing though, but that's more for the social aspect of a once a year event. Which I haven't been to in two years, work-work.

Gambling is one of those activities that I've sworn to never do, along with drinking, smoking, and consuming illegal drugs. However, I won't knock anybody for gambling, unless they are my loved ones whom I want to protect. How you squander use your money is your own responsibility. I also respect anyone who has the self-control to play those games for the fun alone and without expecting anything in return.

Doesn't that also mean you could lose all your winnings in a single loss?

As for me, the way I win at gambling is to pray...

to the God of ...

GAMBLERS.

Good luck with that, at least the drinking part...

I myself haven't done any of those either, unless playing poker with friends counts as Gambling. It's pretty easy to avoid any of those things. Particularly if you've never done them, as then they hold no attraction.

My one time at Poker we were playing with a 5 cent ante, I ended out losing 10 Euro. Though at one point I was up 20 Euro!

Roulette offers many reasonable gambles, 50-50 on colour, odd/even, first/second half (i.e. 1~18 or 19~36). As long as you play mostly on these, with a bit of luck and intuition, you can get your money's worth back, at which point you can bet on all of these at once. That doesn't raise your chances of winning, but it increases the cash flow, whether it's in or out of your pocket

As long as money's involved, it's gambling. New year's poker is pretty popular here...
Anyways, I'll be heading off again soon, hope I get lucky today as well!

I've played roulette a couple times, always lost. It's good fun and doesn't create any illusions about your chances of winning, unless you get all superstitious.

I do not dare to step into a casino. Especially that there's deep water around it in my city, whether it is a coincidence or not.

I've been to a casino a few times. The approach I always take going into a casino is to go in w/ a set amount I want to spend and no more than that. I usually just stick to the slot machines using quarters, although they do have ones that take pennies in case you want to play longer, lol.

I'm a reasonably competent black jack card counter and usually visit Las Vegas for 2 weeks each year. Took me around half a year of training at home and at the computer, then 1-2 milk runs in the Hamburg casino, and finally in Las Vegas.

Currently, my base unit is 10$ with a 10-75$ spread, preferred 2-deck games. Unfortunately, those are pretty rare, but this game is offered at the Orleans, where I've come to stay on a regular basis.

Seen in the long run, my winnings are pretty close to the projected rate (on my skill level, ~1.5 units per hour, meaning around 15$ per hour, but since I toke dealers and cocktail waitresses, it's probably closer to 10-12). Since I play ~60 hours per trip, I tend to go home with ~750$ winnings. Which usually pays the airfare ^_^

I would seriously dissuade anyone from trying to play blackjack for a living though. It can be pretty grinding. 2 weeks per year are way enough for me, and I'm playing just for fun.

Now, if a plaintiff could prove that a casino was only banning card counters who were black, gay, female, disabled, Scientologists, etc., then they might have a case under laws governing discriminatory practices. Otherwise it is pretty much an exercise in futility on the plaintiff's part.
From what I heard, banning people for card counting is illegal in Atlantic City. However that's the only city that outlaws banning people for counting that I know of.

Anyways, if you are in a casino, just have fun and don't worry about the cash. And don't ever have too much cash on your hands.

It's not really that difficult, in all honesty.

I have no interest in gambling, but I will say I like the busy atmosphere of a casino. I've been to a few to watch my friends lose play.

I sometimes go to a casino with a friend.. Sometimes we lose, sometimes we win. Nothing big in either case as we only play with small amounts of money.. We play for fun (of course, winning is fun too) only.

I do prefer playing irl as it's a bit different than on net, but I do mostly play online. I don't play much there either, maybe 50-100€ at most in a month depending on many factors. This month I've lost about 30€ so far. Aside from playing with my own money, I often play freespins and such campaigns are are given out on casinos. Xmas is the best time for that as casinos host xmas calendars and almost on each day there are freespins to play.

I just finished playing today's freespins and I really lucked out. One away from 23k€ jackpot, that was kinda annoying me, but I still won 600€ + 150€ later so I withdrew 720€ from free wins only :P. I've also withdrawn 100 earlier this month.. No doubt before xmas is over I've exceeded 1k€ in free money if I keep going at this rate.

I'll put it like this: I have a BS in operations research (aka optimization/probability/stats) and an MS in statistics.

Poker: can't be bothered to memorize all of the probabilities.
Blackjack: not enough of an attention span/memory to card count.

All other games: ugh how dumb do you have to be to play them? They're a sure fire way to lose every penny.

Atlantic City is the place where casinos MUST deal to even identified card counters. They cannot refuse to play them and/or throw them out. But what sounds so great in theory is not so sweet in practice, since the casino has ways to deal with them anyway (preferential shuffling etc.) - so AC isn't really the best place to _seriously_ play blackjack for money.

If you want a place where card counting is actually illegal (I mean, imagine that! They're forbidding you to use your brain!), try the casino in Monaco.

The casino management reserves the right to refuse service at its sole discretion, so they can forbid you to do pretty much anything...

That's not the point. In Monaco, card counting is _illegal_. In Nevada, the worst thing that can happen to you is that you're barred from the casino.

Hold on, does that mean they can call the police and/or sue you for it?
