Anime Danjo is an army commander, so her social status should be fairly high. Perhaps anime Danjo is a foreign mercenary who brought in elephants and foreign troops, hence she existed outside the caste system. However, being a foreigner wouldn't make much sense, given her Japanese name and her intimate knowledge of the political and military landscape.

They got that part right in the anime where Nobuna was shun by her family for adopting foreign beliefs and weaponry.

When Nobunaga threw the ceremonial incense at the altar during his father's funeral, it was the last straw and caused many of his father's retainers to favor his well-mannered brother Nobuyuki to succeed the Oda clan. It took the ritual suicide of his valued retainer Hirate Kiyohide to wake Nobunaga to his senses.

I do not think Nobunaga's association with foreigners were out of the ordinary during the sengoku jidai. The Shimazu clan welcomed the first foreigners who were shipwrecked near their Tanegashima vassals. The Shimazu were famous for being the first in Japan to use matchlocks in battle, as well as local production of firearms. Some daimyos even converted to Christianity, such as Takayama Ukon (appearing as Dom Justo Takayama in episode 9). When Hideyoshi outlawed Christianity, rather than renouncing his faith, Takayama gave up his land, position and chose exile to the Philippines. Even Date Masamune was known to be very friendly towards the foreigners, taking a personal hand to save missionary Padre Sotelo from Ieyasu and allowing the foreigners to preach in his domain.
So i went to http://odanobunanoyabou.wikia.com to find out more about Danjo. So it turns out Danjo is half-Persian and her people are Persians or half-Persians hence why the Japanese people hated her and her people.

This also helps explains why her men look like Middle Eastern warriors, have War Elephants and use a different kind of magic from Hanbe.

I do not have any information from the novels that corresponds to it, although I might have missed it.

Sengoku (Past) 11 - The Dark Side of Oda Nobuna

I was wondering why Hisahide had joined the Oda side. Letting someone like her get close seemed suspicious, and she only confirmed those suspicions this time. She did get Nobuna's fighting spirit back, but perverted it into something unfocused, something unstable, something that I can't remember Ookubo or Toyoguchi's Nobunaga ever going through. Though, since the bodies for Yoshiharu and Mitsuhide weren't found, it's almost certain they're alive. Those two have survived some rough scrapes before, and are likely recovering somewhere. The atmosphere of this episode was tense, with the soundtrack playing a part in it. Having Nobuna in a western-style wedding dress was a little odd, but they do have a French girl living in Japan, so her conscious is probably somewhat aware of what one looks like. I'm looking forward to the finale.

Lots of action is this episode.
Fights sure are a serious matter.
Sagara is learning that one fight at a time.
The bullet proof phone was a nice touch.
Nobuna's wedding fantasy sure was nice while it lasted.
Looks like she unconsciously confessed herself her strong feeling for Sagara.

The episode was intense, full of action. The scene with Mitsuhide charging at Yoshitatsu to avenge Sagara was great. Nobuna looks a lot more like her real-life counterpart now.

Next episode looks great, too bad it's the last one.

If that's really the end of Sagara then this turned into the worst anime in history

The irony of things in this episode is that Cat fish guy had the guts to send a Monkey head to Nobuna, his reasoning is that she doesn't know her place. If he thinks Nobuna don't have the stomach to kill him and burn down a Mountain he is very mistaken. Like in all Wars, when you push someone so far you get the opposite result of what is desired. Instead of pushing away Nobuna, they manage to enrage her to burn down an entire mountain where they happen to be staying in.
