The army that I write inside is basically a steampunk version of the Union Army during Civil War, with some features of WWI and WWII.

Currently writing I.S./ RWBY crossover, about Ichika and Gospel AI got stranded in Remnant.

Man Ichika has literally more chemistry with everyone except his harem.

I just kept fine tuning my wild core idea and ISxFourze ideas. There was also the idea of the life of Chifuyu if she became the IS test pilot of a IS research center for a living instead of an instructor.

Nah. It's a private civilian institution. The IS she tests aren't "military grade". Rather they're used for stuff like the Mondo Grosso and similar events.

This is actually Chifuyu's job in the elder harem series.

Does she keep her fighting skills up or does she use them anymore?

Unfortunately for my side of writing, my creative well is dry as of now. I'm gonna need vol. 10 to get me out of this funk...

I got shit tons of idea, but most of them involve a colossal amount of referential humor (aka think Weiss Reacts vol1 ON STEROIDS) and putting Ichika, Charl and Laura in a Aquarion-ish or Dancougar-ish IS (Aquarion Love Attack and Love is a Miracle, anyone?) / putting Chifuyu in a Cybuster IS and have her going around the world chasing a black hole-spamming Dio-ish Tabane

Well they do still get military grade gear. Just as they test civilian IS, they also verify military IS' capabilities.

Remember that all governments are supposed to openly announce any technological advancements right? And ISA is the only place they can develop new IS tech without need for publication.

In general. Someone has to compile and verify the public claims and benchmark these IS. Chifuyu also falls under that and the tests do involve live combat. Not to mention they're one of the few non-military complexes where IS are deployable. Professional IS pilots can train in these simulator fields which are more varied than what a lone military base has. This place also manages/sponsors girls who want to follow IS oriented careers. Grooming them into becoming possible representative pilots of their country, competing against cadet representatives.
