Kurisu at the moment doesn't realize undoing the last D-mail will lead to her death. When Okabe and Kurisu first met in the Alpha timeline, Kurisu just thought Okabe was a crazy pervert and that his first D-mail was just a joke. She will probably learn next episode that she might really die.

And another nasty side effect of cancelling the first D-Mail could be that the time machine is never invented. And even if it was, Kurisu would not be there to give Okabe advice wich mean he'll fail. |

There's something I'm having trouble with from this episode. Exactly how much did Mr. Braun know about what Okabe and the other lab members were doing upstairs? He basically spills the beans about his involvement with SERN based on the idea that the IBN was "safely" on a plane. However, the lab members have multiple ways of getting this information to the past before the IBN made it to the plane. So did Mr. Braun know they could do this and made a conscious decision to indirectly help them get the IBN back (albeit on a different world line) or did he know none of this and think that his words would have no real effect on who controls the IBN?

Even before the start of the series, the phone microwave was already a time machine when Okabe and Daru invented the phone microwave. That's why Okabe and Daru were puzzled when the bananas had became jellyfied when they repeated the experiment with the bananas. The first D-mail happened because when Okabe was terrified by Kurisu's death and proceeded to send a mail to Daru, Daru in the Lab was performing a safety test on the microwave and he plugged his handphone on the microwave as well. Daru did mentioned that when he was performing the safety test, electrical spark phenomena occured. We knew that the electrical spark phenomena is essential for D-mail and time leap. Besides that, Okabe also observed the mail had been sent to a few days before July 28th in Daru's inbox. Based on the observations, Okabe concluded that he had sent a D-mail unintentionally and that D-mail had caused a world line shift which had prevented Kurisu's death.

Ok that makes sense but isn't the 2-day limitation on the Time Leap machine only because Okabe had to use it 2 days after Kurisu made it therefore if he leapt back any further, the Time Leap machine would'nt have existed? I thought it was an artificial limitation.

^ No, the 2-day limitation is literally what it is. Kurisu stated that the time-leap machine is limited that it can only send your memories back a maximum of 48 hours per leap. Attempting to time-leap beyond 2 days might have severe consequences to your brain. The limit has nothing to do with Okabe using it and time-leaping to a period before the time-leap machine is completed.
Why is it only limited to 2-days? Well Kurisu probably doesn't have the knowledge and/or resources to increase the limit as of yet. We all know in the future, she does complete the first actual time machine.

Excellent episode, oh boy. I totally forgot about the first episode too. I will have to watch it again now. This series has some good re-watch value.
I do wish there were more spoiler tags for the VN though.
