Typesetters:

Essentials: An excellent grounding in ASS/SSA override commands.

Nice to have: Ability to use AFX to do replacement signs for typesetting.

Karaoke Artists:

Essentials: An excellent grounding in ASS/SSA override commands. Impecable \k timing skills. A knowledge of a variety of styles for karaoke and using them appropriately.

Nice to have: Ability to romanise kanji. Ability to "kanji-ise" romanji.

Encoders:

Essentials: A good background knowledge of AviSynth and filters, know appropriate use of filters, ability to hit an exact file size consistently, knowledge of both XviD and AVC encoding (not just using vdub.)

Nice to have: European based

Translator:

Essentials: High level of fluency in japanese: both spoken and written.

Nice to have: Yes!

Editor

Essentials: "This sentence structure is correct." This one is "bizarre,"; and the word gotten only exists in the American English dictionary.

Excellent fluency of written english, must maintain flow of script while (whilst) restructuring. Excellent standard of spelling and grammar.

Know when something in a script is just plain wrong (intuition - scary word!).

Timer

Essentials: Ability to time a standard script (up to 300 lines) within 2-4 hours. Ability to scene time. High level of accuracy: check your work!

Translation Checker:

Essentials: A good standard of fluency in written and spoken japanese. Our current translaton checker is capable of translating 80-90% of a given anime - use that as a benchmark if you will. I'm looking for someone capable of holding conversation in japanese which would probably account for the ability to translate 50% upwards of a given anime.

It's funny that we need everthing, Grv.
You could've just written "Positions: Everything" to save a second or two in your life.

That's such a grey area, I won't even get into it... We've not released subs of stuff we've done because it was licensed in UK, before...

Short of banning entire continents from bt trackers and irc channels, there's not much you can do :X

We, a new Subgroup, are looking for a translator and an encoder for "Suzumi haruhi no yuuutsu/The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi".
As an extra, the translator can choose a second project if he wants to ;DDD

The Staff is pretty experienced, everyone has worked at least more than 2 years as a Fansubber.

If you're interested then send a mail to Ratto@freenet.de or come in our channel #tsukikage on rizon.

orz is looking for a group to joint with on any new season show. I'm able to provide all of the following quickly: translation check (if the translation is reasonably accurate, I don't want half of the lines being omfg wtf is this), timing, and encoding (H.264 or XviD).

PM me at shinga on Rizon or here if you're interested!

Anime-Himitsu is still looking for people. Though, we have managed to fill in some o the positions. We mainly need a translator for our current projects:
Detective Academy Q: 34+
Happy Seven: Episodes 4-12
Akahori Gedou Hour Rabuge: Episodes 10-13

If a translator is looking for a group to do some random series, we would also be interested in helping out. We have a pretty solid team. =)

Another typesetter would be nice as well, as we're lacking on that front. And if a timer is interested in joining a group, we're open to that as well.

Come onto #anime-himitsu on irc.rizon.net and feel free to contact any of the ops. The group leader is ChibiBoi, and I currently go by the name "Koroku"

Hope to see someone interested =) We'd love to be able to get some more stuff out, but with the lacking of staff, it's slightly hard to do so. =)

----------------------

In another matter, a new group is looking for someone interested in translating Saru Getchu (Ape Escape) or Nerima Daikon Brothers.

Saru Getchu is a cute little series with no lyrics to translate.

Nerima Daikon Brothers is quite the opposite, being a musical. However, for the majority of the series (save near the end) the lyrics are done at the bottom.

If interested, feel free to contact me by PM here or on any Rizon. I'm Koroku.

Hi there.

I don't know if anyone ever gets results from this thing, but I'll try...

Live-eviL Fansubs has recently had two translators go AWOL. This has led to the stalling of the following projects:

Gallery Fake
The Snow Queen
Detective Academy Q

We own the R2 DVDs for all of these shows and would like to continue subbing them at a decent speed. If anyone is willing to help on these or any other projects, please contact me here, on irc (#live-evil on irc.enterthegame.com), on our web forum (http://forum.live-evil.org), on AIM (Tofusensei), or email at Tofusensei@live-evil.org

Thank you so much.

sars-fansubs translator recruitment (japanese dramas)

hi folks,

sars is once again looking to replenish the ranks and we need a few dedicated japanese to english translators...
anything pertaining to fansubbing takes time out of your schedule, so please reply only if you believe you can at least spare the time to translate a complete series...
of course we are aiming to find people who will stick around for a longer period of time and preferably not too picky about what they translate...
we're a fun and friendly team to work with and we're looking forward to new members...
so if your japanese skills are at least moderate to very good, please contact me on msn messenger or via hotmail under ironicwave@hotmail.com or check out the sars homepage...
