Flash forward to present-day Japan. Fujii Ren is released from the hospital after two months spent recovering from wounds suffered in a vicious brawl with his best friend Shiro. As Christmas approaches, he tries to rebuild his life, clinging to what brilliance remains. But even that is soon threatened. For the knights of the LDO have returned, and brought the apocalypse to his doorstep. Forced to wield the same unholy power as his foes, will Ren be able to protect what is dear to him from the inhuman might of the Longinus Dreizehn Orden?

The format is still undecided yet, but they do intend to release a pilot episode with the fund.

Rushed? Likely yes. Dies is not an easily adapted story.


TV or movie? Staff is not even decided yet....this thread is really running on empty fumes at the moment.


I have some reservations about donating for it as a result. Part of me wants to but the other part thinks it is hard to when we don't even know the staff yet

If the funding reaches 300,000,000 yen, a one cour TV anime will be produced. Currently funding is at 48,000,000 yen with 41 days to go (the initial funding goal for an OVA was 30,000,000 yen).

Dies irae Adult Visual Novel Gets 2017 TV Anime Series Adaptation

GENCO will produce the series, and the game's original scenario writer Takashi Masada will return to the anime to oversee the scripts.

The game and anime's story features an alternate history of World War II. On May 1, 1945 in Berlin, as the Red Army raises the Soviet flag over the Reikskanzlei, a group of Nazi officers conduct a ritual. For them, the slaughter in the city is nothing but the perfect ritual sacrifice in order to bring back the Order of the 13 Lances, a group of supermen whose coming would bring the world's destruction. Years later, no one knows if this group of officers succeeded, or whether they lived or died. Few know of their existence, and even those who knew began to pass away as the decades passed.

Now in December in the present day in Suwahara City, Ren Fujii spends his days at the hospital. It has been 2 months since the incident that brought him to the hospital: a fight with his friend Shirou Yusa where they almost tried to kill each other. He tries to value what he has left to him, but every night he sees the same dream: A guillotine. Murderers who hunt people, and the black clothed knights who pursue the murderers. He is desperate to return to his normal, everyday life, but even now he hears Shirou's words: "Everyone who remains in this city eventually loses their minds."
