I realized that if I use 'NewToday's posts', I also get the subforum shortcuts

Well that's a strange bug...

Edit: Apparently, if you click on the arrow on the far right to actually "load" the announcement, it'll count it as read and then disappear. I guess that's the drawback of using Announcements for this. I'll have to see if there's another way...
