Sorry, I have no wallpaper to give you if you answer right. That scene melted my brain in the manga and keeps melting my brain in the anime. I was really afraid they would mess it up but the ambiguity is still there. Uh... Except for Senda.

Great episode, even better than I expected. Some very powerful scenes between all the potential pairings in a single episode, which is quite a feat. All the additions to the manga such as new scenes and extra dialogue lines were fantastic and I think the women selection subplot is quite efficient. I am honestly starting to wonder whether the anime is better than the manga, story-wise. The manga's advantage is that Adachi's drawing style conveys emotions and ambiguity incredibly well. However, the anime staff is trying hard as hell to provide similar emotions (ex. Ichiyo's smile in the kitchen and the spoiler-tagged bit above).

Cross Game 36 will be another anime-original episode.

I thought the fighting scene was more comical in the manga with Ko defending with the veggies, but that's just me.

Overall it was a great episode. I love how everyone just suddenly has to go use the batting cage when certain topics start getting discussed

And as for episode 36, as much as I would like to see the next part of the manga, I have to admit, when episode 22/23 came out, I was hoping (expecting actually) that they would follow up with this. It's actually what I like about the anime. They're taking things that only get a casual mention in the manga and going ahead and weaving it fully into the show giving a bit more balance between the amount of story devoted to Ko and Aoba. And they do so without detracting from the actual story.

well the cake bit made it super clear that the choco was for kou and not azuma. Instead in the manga it's really subtle since there is no cut to mizuki making the cake and having them have walked further to start discussing the chocolate. I enjoyed but as an adachi fan, I don't mind subtle because his writing is just that smooth.

This episode was totally like a rollercoaster. There was so much happening inside the character minds with so little happening on a superficial level that this episode felt almost like an emotional oxymoron. Perfectly played.

One of the best episodes in a while if I may say so.

One of the best episodes of Cross Game yet. Perfect.

EXCEPT for one thing. The mountain climbing cousin seriously adds nothing to my enjoyment of the show.

But otherwise, good stuff. The chocolate was definitely meant for Kou. I really liked the scene with the pitcher pose at the beginning.

pretty decent episode (35). It looks like the contest was a poster competition that Akane enter and she won. I knew that it had something to do with a pitcher. The pitcher was Aoba, maybe this was the prediction of Aoba at kosien, but wasn't Aoab in center field in Waka's dream not the mount. Another thing was like I mentioned in last episode that Azuma actually did confess that the only person he would go out with is Aoba, even though people said I was wrong. Looks like Akane saw how Wakaba looks like and through the pictures that Waka would never get tired of Kou. I have a feeling Akane x Kou is going to happen, as she asked Akashi about Waka and Kou's relation. Even told Akashi looked like her late grandpa... haha.

As others have said already, this was certainly an excellent episode of Cross Game. I particularly loved the scene with the back-and-forth insults between Aoba and Kou in the Tsukishima kitchen. It really made me smile.

Also good to know they didn't troll us in the preview last week and that Azuma was really talking to Aoba. He's so casual about everything. Telling Aoba, and especially in the locker room. I told you guys, I'd only consider going out with Aoba. Huh? I didn't tell you already?

After seeing a few signatures on this forum featuring this anime I decided to check it out last weekend and ended up marathoning all 34 episodes. Episode 1 was so well done that I was completely hooked and I've enjoyed every single episode so far except for episode 18. Having to wait for episode 35 was agonizing after getting used to watching 1 episode after another and it's going to be another long week waiting for 36.

As Ansalem mentioned, the kitchen scene was my favorite as well. Any scene with Kou and Aoba is always good but this one was particularly entertaining. Not sure what role Aoba's cousin will have now since Azuma makes for a more interesting candidate for her.

Azuma's confession is sort of weird. It's almost like if he were "forced" to go out he would pick Aoba, but not that he truly wants to go out with Aoba?

Anyhow, that chocolate was definitely for Kou. Akane x Kou is just a red herring in this story. That won't happen. It would be too weird.

Once again Azuma has the best line of the episode.

Personally I think that originally Aoba intended the chocolate to be to Kou from Wakaba.

That would be so Aoba. (Makes a nice plausible excuse).

But not when Akane shows up. If Aoba had decided to openly give Kou chocolates I don't think Akane's presence would have stopped her- but if Wakaba is involved...

One of the things I am liking is the way everybody around Aoba and Kou are suddenly taking a step back to reconsider the Aoba x Kou pairing, and consider an alternative like Aoba x Azuma and Kou x Akane.

I was surprised at Ichiyo's nonchalance though. I actually felt a little betrayed... at least we can still count on Momiji to support an Aoba x Kou ending.
