Upgrade Specialist in Another World (cash player vs. world of free players)
Wuxiaworld just started a new novel and He-man is translating so since it was said this is a Xianxia with Humor it shows promisse.
Spoiler for intro:
Now i already read a few chapters and there are few things that are new in this one. First of all this isnt a reicanrnation person it's just a poor little guy that recive a cheat skill from some poor player that die a horrible dead in a Virtual reality game. Also this isn't a game world at all the MC just got one skill that upgrades stuff and can see the status of items but thats it. And there is very funny lines too for exemple the first item the upgrade was just a mere brick and i can tell you this is THE brick he used to put under a leg of the bed and later becames the "brick of death" best line was when the MC was looking at the status of the Brick and read "Stun effect" and said "Stun? What does this mean? If I beat someone with this brick, of course I can stun him. Why is there still a chance of several percent?” Harem: No ideia too little chapters and the MC is close to a begar. |

Actually the guy from earth is not completely gone. As mentioned in the synopsis a few of his fragments survived as well, along with some of his knowledge as when the fragments fused with Bai Yunfei, he started muttering things like molecular composition of water. Now the question is if it's only vague memories to the very end or if Bai Yunfei's cultivation could possible either restore the earth guy's soul completely or at least his memories.

I read 60 chapters so far and i think i can give a solid review on this novel by now and damn it started good but turn into average and then boring.
First of all the plot is bad it's super generic basic started really good but then the MC decides to hunt bandits, revenge arc and later lets join a sect... only the revenge was kinda good but the rest it was terrible. But the worst part was the "romance" with that girl he bumb into that cause him to be arested and almost kill. When they meet later she doesnt even remeber him even with him thowing all kindas of hints and she instant like him... and then they go on dates and shit even if he save her from a local lustfull bully it was just so terrible. The humor doesn't exist pass chapter 10 after that you only get bandits raping woman and little masters kidnaping woman to rape it just becames a rape feast. So i don't recomend this novel at all maybe it gets better later but i doubt it 4/10 too much rape in this novel. |

What? I'm at ~800. I like it. The first arc doesn't set the tone for the rest of the novel at all. I didn't see any rape, there's some attempts by the usual arrogant young master but MC's always there to punk the villains.
Story's very generic yeah, too many arrogant young masters with the uncles/fathers/dogs coming for revenge arcs. Main girl is too damsel in distress, the whole romance is pretty lame/juvenile. No harem for those who care about that stuff. Writing is so so. Some arcs are pretty aimless and there's little sense of purpose for the most part, Douluo Dalu style. (Like there's a main villain but it's always kinda in the background secretly plotting so far and it's not MC's motivation so far, MC just wants to become stronger). On the good side, the MC is actually likeable, isn't one of those show off arrogant ruthless MC type, doesn't do random cruel stuff, is even a bit of a white knight sometimes but I like it because he doesn't forget where he comes from and doesn't see normal noncultivators as disposable and saves them when he can. Also I like the geeky cheat he's got (but it's never super OP) because I'm pretty geeky myself. I actually wish the story exploited it even more. :P It's pretty feel good, MC always saves the day and gets lucky breaks, it doesn't have much character worship if at all for that type of story which is a real plus for me. Fighting scenes are okay and there's a lot of them. All in all I'd say 7/10 for me so far, nothing outstanding but the big thing is there's nothing annoying and the MC is a change from all those ruthless/domineering or even borderline evil MCs. It's just pleasant. It's one of the rare xianxia I've actually read so far along so it must be doing something right. I'd recommend you at least check it out if you like or don't mind game-like cheats with a pleasant MC and without angst past the first ~50 chapters and are in the mood for mindless brain candy. (PS don't read the author notes though, I swear he whines about or begs for votes every other chapter) |

As for the MC there is a great lack of passion after he got his revenge he could just run away from the idiot master family and live his life in peace at that point the novel could just end because he doesn't really have a motivation to get stronger. I was hoping he join the Fate Sect from the old man that gave him the meditation and get mix in the disaster that was destiny to happend there and slow start to care about the place but no he just went to join another sect that we don't care about that refine items something he doesn't need to learn at all. |

^I think there's more at first to show how evil the young master was and how bad the common folks got it etc, he started pretty bleak but after that he changed his tune. After that it's more the "pretty girl gets bullied and MC saves dem princesses" cliche that he (over)uses.
Yeah it's kinda aimless after the revenge, especially after he leaves his first city and before he joins his sect, I was like why is he faffing around with that liu meng girl, author spent to long on this and the next town yeah, it gets a bit better after but it's still a bit like douluo dalu and a lot of other xianxias, MC's motivation to get stronger is mainly "stronk is gud". And the old man already mentioned, he doesn't want to mess with MC too much because basically he can give people's fate a nudge but can't overdo it or it'll screw up with the predictions/ramifications it's a thing with his Fate sect. He's basically throwing a lot of baits all around the continent and hoping one of them will bite, so he's not really focusing on MC. The sect MC joins is a better fit for his cheat anyway, remember his cheat is to upgrade items, not craft them from the ground up. He wants to craft a lot of soul items so he can test his cheat on them since soul items don't get destroyed until +10. |

Okay I finished it.
The latter half is definitely better with a better sense of purpose, the story's more hype. It's still very feel good, like I think of the named (and even most of the unnamed) good guys everyone gets a good ending, apart from that one dude who's more a neutral. Still pretty stereotypical, like villains do villains things just because, using villain means, even have evil names, etc. The latter 1/4 feels kinda like a victory lap but it's not too repetitive, especially compared to the first half. One complaint I have is that I feel his cheat isn't exploited enough, I thought that he'd manage to enchant stuff to +15 +16 etc later on, but I guess it'd have been Mars Gravity level of gamebreaking. One thing I like is that the MC gets very badass later on but the author still managed to keep the character worship to a minimal degree, and the fighting sequences are actual fighting sequences, and not like 2-3 chapters of reactions from spectators every time the MC does something out of the ordinary. Also the MC stays a nice and respectful guy and not one of those common MCs that's only polite to people stronger than him and acts like your run of the mill arrogant young master with people weaker than him. So I'd say 8/10 for the latter half and 6.5~7/10 for the first. |

ALSO, later on you'll have bound items and even better, lifebound items. Those will make the enchant effect even (much) better. Plus he can stack a tons of eq, like 2 rings, 2 bracelets, 2 gloves, 2 armbands, boots, pendants, armor, special items, plus bunch of weapons some of which he can control remotely, so yeah he ends up with tons of OP effects already. Keep in mind though he usually won't risk his best items after +10 because it's like a 99% chance of destroying them. Those upgrade under very special circumstances usually. Spoiler for enchanting:
Also don't diss the brick. Seriously. It's like his lucky charm and ends up being one of his most powerful items. Last edited by itisjustme; 2016-01-20 at 04:26. |
