Do these blocks effect Taiwan or Hong Kong? And is the block out to Shanghai, as I imagine that to be the more connected city in China?
Also was the increase in western votes related to 4chan? Because they've in the past considered it to be the fake Saimoe clone, or probably a dirty work since it was from AnimeSuki. ISML use to get more scorn than Saimoe did, but I've not looked inthe last several months to see what reaction Saimoe was getting there.

I'm pretty sure Taiwan is not blocked. I'm not so sure about Hong Kong though...maybe someone will give us more insight on that.
@ppaaccoojrf: I agree that we shouldn't try to do something that would affect the voting population mid-tournament, but like I said, we just thought this would be something "fun" for voters to do before/during/after they vote, sort of like the comments in KBM, so we were just thinking the widget would be something no more than a "layout upgrade," similar to animated gifs. Besides, all that we've "analyzed" here are still mere speculation until the results show themselves. About the gifs, I don't think there is a place since the album it's on is private. But you can pretty much guess the file name. For example, this is Kanade's avatar: http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x..._kanade_11.gif I bet you $10 that Mikoto's avatar is: http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x..._mikoto_11.gif And I can tell you that macrons are dropped. EDIT: I browse AS with avatars and signatures disabled, so I really have to pay attention to people's names. It's good practice maybe?

ARENA 01: [Tachibana Kanade] Shana
Difficult, both are likeable but neither is one of my favorites. Mapo Tofu over Melon Pan it is. ARENA 02: [Akiyama Mio] Aisaka Taiga Mio > any tsundere, even a good one. ARENA 03: Yui [Nagato Yuki] Yui took the place of Masami Iwasawam in Girldemo. Unforgivable! Besides Yuki plays a better gitar solo. ARENA 04: Katsura Hinagiku [Suzumiya Haruhi] Well, I like spicey. And ponytails. ARENA 05: [Nakano Azusa] Eucliwood Hellscythe Twintails, cat ears, sold. ARENA 06: [Nakamura Yuri] Sengoku Nadeko Spice girls > shy girls. ARENA 07: Charlotte Dunois [Senjōgahara Hitagi] Spice also beats nice. ARENA 08: Elucia de Lute Irma [Abstained] Haqua du Lot Herminium Haven't seen enough of this to make a call. ARENA 09: [Kawashima Minami] Minato Tomoka Yōko Hikasa vs Kana Hanazawa, tough choice, but Minami just has that little edge. ARENA 10: [Ayanami Rei] Evangeline McDowell Rei makes sadness look cute. |

Wasn't the facebook thing started since SE began? OR has it been delved into more now? I mean, we see 35k+ likes for facebook, yet barely break 10k+ votes. So I was wondering whether there was much of an effect at all. Didn't notice the comment section before, that's awesome.
Also, goddamn tough first match for Menma....

I added the Like/Share button prior to SE, but the comments widget was new this round. When the Like button was added, the counter was already above 10k, so Facebook's servers seem to have remembered every Like the website has ever gotten on people's individual profiles, and this is the first time I've actually referenced the number. Each URL seems to be separate, too. The front page has 15k likes while the voting page has 38k. If I added this widget to more places (like in Contestants or Statistics) there will probably be different values.
So these Likes could have occurred all the way since 2008 or whenever Facebook started keeping track of Likes. I don't know if it's IP-based or Facebook-account-based, so I wouldn't expect any correlation between that and the number of votes we get each round. I didn't know what would become of the comments widget; at first I thought people would be too shy to reveal themselves out in the open, but it looks like I was wrong there. Unfortunately I can't set a default of "Reverse Chronological" so the posts are sorted by social ranking initially. And someone just recently figured out how to 'inflate' it by replying to the top comments, lol. This will be something we'll figure out over time as to what's best for the site without making it too clunky or invasive. So far it has been fun seeing everyone's responses and excitement about the match; the feed seems to be evenly spread between Shana and Kanade, so that's good. And there are a few sprinklings of support for other featured characters.

^^It is Facebook account based as far as I know.
Well, I won't argue that a comments section is fun. I'd rather have it ISML based rather than Facebook based, but that's just me. And to anyone who doesn't like it, you can block those kinds of scripts with add-ons or the like. Spoiler for Ika vs Menma:

Hmm for next round I liked Tōru, but there is no way I voting against Kyouko in the first match she shows up in . And Menma will get my vote since I haven't seen Ika .
