The Gold Saints have a bigger role in this manga than the main character.

But Shion hasn't done much for the moment, he needs more screentime.

The main character, Tenma, has the bigger role of course , but there is a lot of gold saint fight in this manga (the best are Cancer/Pisces/Taurus in my point of view ). So yeah, they have a big role in Lost Canvas, but Tenma is the hero.

We don't saw Shion and Dokho too much, that's too bad :/!
I agree with you, Shion need more screentime! He is my favourite character of Saint Seiya Hades/Sanctuary!

Thanks for the answer guys. Well you can't expect for side characters to have all the fun but minor involvement and having at least one fight is good enough.

Shion and Dohko are awesome. So Cancer/Pisces/Taurus have good fights? Any from Aquarius one? =)

Last question. Manga finished or ongoing?

Well all Gold Saints Have plenty of screen time, There are Arcs that focuses on each of them.
The firs OVA was good , the animation was top quality all the time, the drawings are good (not as good as Hades), the opening it's a little weird it is in english XD, the ending song its good.

There is a Aquarius's fight, but it was not as awesome as Pisces/Cancer/Taurus's fight. In my point of view, Aquarius's fight wasn't very good or bad...
But I love his design .

Spoiler:

Manga is ongoing! 138 chapters now.

I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, so i'll do it anyway. I know of Saint Seiya, though personally i've never seen any of the adaptations yet. Hearing that this is a prequel to the original, do you people think i'll be alright watching it? Or think i should track down the original first?

Perhaps you should try to watch at least, the original 114 episodes of the classic series (since the start until the end of the Poseidon saga). Although it doesn't really matter, LC so far only has 2 episodes and the next 2 will appear in like another two months or so...

You don't need to watch the original anime because Lost Canvas is a new story and you don't need to know Saint Seiya to begin Lost Canvas (well you need to know that Bronze Saint<Silver Saint<Gold Saint of course ).

But I think you should try to watch the original with Sanctuary arc (very good, with gold saint battle), Asgard (filler arc but awesome in my point of view, with a lot of good character) and finally Hadès sanctuary products in 2002 (beautiful attack, animation, character, battle; best arc of Saint Seiya with Sanctuary arc).

You shouldn't watch Poseidon arc, Hadès Inferno (2005) and Elysion (2008)!
Poseidon arc is bad and too much repetitive when you saw Sanctuary arc and Asgard.

About Hades Inferno and Elysion, Toei killed Saint Seiya (and Kurumada too) with these OAV, bad design, bad animation, bad attack, bad production.

You can watch The Lost Canvas without seeing any other saint seiya , but it's preferably that you saw the first 114 original episodes first, however, some Arcs are just boring(silver Saints arc, Poseidon) in fact i liked Lost Canvas more than the original SS.

I just saw the first episode, and I was floored.

I've been a fan of Saint Seiya since I was in kindergarden.

I was very excited about the making of the Hades saga - but boy did the animation disappoint me. The fights were too repetitive, there was very badly animation of the fights, etc...

But this? My god, this is what I've been waiting for my whole life. The quality of animation, the voice acting, the story... Wow. That's really the best way I can sum this up: WOW.

Thanks for the replies people. I shall check out this new show, and hopefully get around to watching the original at a later date.

At least it had good intro and music through the series

You people might flame me but this Lost Canvas is looking more appealing then the old series

I like Lost Canvas, but the original is too good (i speak about the anime because manga is horrible!). Well we will see if these Lost Canvas OAV will be as good as the original.

Actually i agree with you...in manga terms xD, if the Lost Canvas anime it's as good as the manga then yes Lost Canvas will be the best of the SS Series.

I just saw episode 2.

Seriously, the quality alone of this anime makes me want to stand up and clap.

What studio is doing the animation? I never thought the translation from manga to anime could be done this well.

The studio is TMS Entertainment. There were a few damn good looking episodes of D.Gray-man, though apart from that nothing that they've done upto now has looked as good as Saint Seiya - The Lost Canvas.

I always wandered why there aren't present any large discussions about Seiya anime in general, I always thought it was a classic. Very few anime lovers are interested in this one...

With that said, I can't wait to see more episodes of these series. They are shaping to be quite good, let's hope they don't loose that shape =)

I've been wanting to check out the original series for sometime now, just haven't gotten around to it. Watching Lost Canvas may finally push me in that direction and order the boxsets.

The Saints forming Trinity?

Anyway, I watched the first two episodes and they were awesome. Even though I didn't see manga the pace looked fine to me, wrapped up with sweet animation of course. I'm quite pleased with Lost Canvas at the moment, and I would urge everyone who didn't even watched previous Saint Seiya to check this one out.

The only problem is watching the right fansubs as I didn't find any right ones as some tend to miss the names or the translations is really off.
