I can see Nano and the Professor making some wins in Saimoe. Can't say that much for the rest of the Nichijou cast.
He's probably just frustrated from scripting earlier. We have a lot of work to do on the Saimoe Wiki this year.

If the group phase means prelim, I will raise you swim across the river that at least 1 Dog Days character and at least 1 Hanasaku Iroha will make it past the prelim and unto the bracket for the 288.

What? That's a given. I have watched neither of the series, and I cannot fathom 288 characters who could completely bump them out of the bracket.

Win the whole thing? Final 8... maybe. Maybe. But the whole thing? No way.

I won't make a trailer this year, I mainly did last year's as a play on a StarCraft/AB meme. That, and RL and lack of interest on doing it.

I will maintain the brackets again (or try to), though how will this year's be run compared to last year's?

- -

Madoka and Oreimo will be the year's dreadnaughts. It also means they'll have big target's on their collective backs.

BTW, how does K-On qualify this year?

K-On ran spring-summer 2010, so they get in for the summer part.

And the bracket will go back to the old format with 288 contestants (most likely).

The number of contestants didn't change between '09 and '10. It went 4-way, 3-way, 3-way for each group.

'09 was 3-way, 3-way, 1-on-1, 1-on-1 for each group.

- edit -

Seeing there are three rounds before the block finals, looks like it'll follow the '09 format instead of the '10 style.

2009 had 384 (+1) with the only difference with previous years being 4-way matches for R1.

2010 had 288 (+1, can't get rid of prelim ties), with the unconventional 3-way block finals with someone getting bussed.

I will eat a Cardboard sandwhich with glass of bleach if at least one Madoka girl didn't make it to the final 8.

You got your numbers wrong for '09.

two rounds of 3-ways, two rounds of 1v1s, and 8 blocks gets:
3 * 3 * 2 * 2 * 8 = 288
And add one for the prelim tie.

In order to get to 384, Round 1 would have to be all 4-ways. They weren't except for A01.

Edit--

My mistake, I was looking at '08's format. 2008 had 288 characters.

Block Finals has to be 1v1's, because characters final 8 and above are basically enshrined.
