Looks like it's time for Disney to go IP shopping again...

Apparently, You Can't Say 'God' on Star Trek:

"Yes. I know. I know that makes no sense given that one of the most famous bad lines
in all of Star Trek history is “What does God need with a starship?” I also know it makes
no sense since Deep Space Nine’s Sisko was the literal chosen one of the Bajoran god-
equivalents. I know that and you know that. But my god, does Star Trek: Discovery
not know that.

In a preview to its Star Trek: Discovery cover story, Entertainment Weekly shared this
little anecdote from the set:"

Well that just seems weird. Although to be fair it doesn't seem like Discovery is going to care much at all about the timeline it exists in.

Judging by the sets, especially the bridge, this like it's set in the JJverse

(Listens to main character's description)... Holy crap, did they just make Mary Sue canon?

I can't even imagine how the Trekkies must feel like anytime more information releases about this series.

Bryan Fuller originally envisioned Star Trek: Discovery
as an anthology show:

"When Star Trek Discovery begins airing later this year, it’ll bring some new changes to
Gene Roddenberry’s world, including an overarching, serialized story, rather than an
episodic season. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, former showrunner Bryan
Fuller explained that his original pitch for the show was even more ambitious: an
anthology that would to do to Star Trek “what American Horror Story [did] for horror.”

According to Fuller, his vision would begin with a prequel series (Discovery is set before
Star Trek: The Original Series), and would continue through the eras that followed in
Voyager, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and beyond. CBS instead decided to
move forward with a serialized season, and would see how audiences responded. Fuller
stepped down from running the show last October, which was explained at the time as
a result of his other duties running American Gods for Starz and Amazing Stories for
NBC. EW reports that there were other reasons as well: As production began, Fuller’s
relationship with CBS deteriorated with disagreements over budget, production
schedule, and crew selection. Interestingly, Baby Driver’s Edgar Wright said that Fuller
approached him to direct the pilot, while CBS opted to hire veteran television director
David Semel instead."

I'm afraid this show has train wreck written all over it and I doubt it will get a second season, IF it gets a full first season which is a shame since almost every trek show needed at least 2 seasons to get their feet beneath them

Star Trek: Wrath Of Khan TV series in the works:

"Rumours that CBS's new Star Trek: Discovery universe will also include various TV
spin-off projects appear to be solid."

"Nicholas Meyer, one of the current Discovery writers and director of 1982s Star
Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan, is working on bringing a limited series to the small
screen, which will document the fallout from Kirk dropping Khan Noonien Singh off
on Ceti Alpha V during original series episode 'Space Seed', as he and his
followers try to survive long before they're discovered by the U.S.S. Reliant,
where the rest of the story began in the movie."

I wonder what other spin-offs we can expect?

Okay, So Now Star Trek: Discovery Can Say 'God':

"The USS Discovery has got to be a ship stuck in one location, based on the number of
weird u-turns and backpedals it has done. Contrary to the article in which Entertainment
Weekly previewed its cover story on Star Trek: Discovery, apparently “God” is a perfectly
fine word for a Terran to say."

Live Long and Listen to The STAR TREK: DISCOVERY
Theme Music:

"Now with Star Trek: Discovery nearly upon us, we are finally getting to hear a bit of the
latest theme song for the new show. Thanks to this new behind-the-scenes video, which
you can watch down below, composer Jeff Russo leads a 60-piece orchestra in recording
the theme for the first new Trek series in over twelve years."

Well, if nothing else has, the theme song is encouraging.

With Star Trek: Discovery, CBS Discovers That
TV Ain't Easy Anymore:

"Television: The final frontier. These are the voyages of the legacy broadcast network
CBS. Its apparently never-ending mission: to explore strange new revamps of old
shows, to seek out fully integrated distribution models and new revenue streams. To
boldly go where, to be honest, a few other networks with studios and a couple powerful
streaming video on demand services have already gone before. SHWOOOOM!"

Felt like a fan made show with very good sets and animation, I like it so far as a Sci-Fi show but it doesn't feel Star Trek

I think Orville gonna be my n.1 Star Trek of season. Discovery wasn't bad per se but it's somehow off.
