Is WinD still around? They haven't made any new subs for more that a month now, not since Episode 11.

Are they OK? I heard some of the members were sick...

The Christmas Eve special has been confirmed to be a 30 minutes speical for the upcoming higurashi live-action movie.

I'm very disappointed. So much for Saikoroshi-hen, or a Christmas special where everyone celebrates the winter after finally getting through June.

I never come around here so I'm not sure if it's already been announced; sorry if it has.

Looks like there's going to be a live action Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni movie. I don't know much about it but I thought it was worth mentioning to a whole subforum full of fans.

That scares me more than anything else. I don't see Higurashi working in a 2 hour film. Unless they just go slash with it, which really defeats the purpose.

The film will only include the events that took place in Onikakushi-hen. I too doubt that it will be a loyal adaptation, but it will at least bring more exposure to the franchise.

If it was 2 hours then it could be a better adaption than the anime. The anime was 1.4 hours and it skipped a lot from not having enough time.

@Chrissie: Higurashi has more Shintoist roots than anything, so from my POV you are overthinking it.

Not to mention that at the end Takano did achieved redemption. From my POV sinning and redemption are important themes in Higurashi, however Jewish mythology has nothing to do with it

wow at first se2 seemed a bit dull but after ep4 and especially during ep 6 i have to retract that comment. it sure has gotten my intrerest.

meh, 6 eps in 1 day is nothing, if i really wanted to i would've seen atleast 12 yesterday. ive done anime marathons b4 ie all initial d related anime within 1 week. thats se1-24eps se2-13, 2 movies and se4-26eps. generally it takes me 3-4 days to go thru 24 ep runs.

Spoiler for Read only if you've seen all of Higurashi: In a way, isn't the entire plot line of Higurashi very based around biblical references and stuff? Like, all of the first 6 arcs are about somebody sinning, but all of their sins being forgiven with the reset of time. As we learn later, Hanyuu is responsible. Hanyuu is the figurative representation of Jesus. She died many many years ago for the sins of the people of Hinimizawa, as she herself said a few episodes ago. Yet, she was born again as a guide to the Furude family, and eventually, Rika. She also says to Takano "Man cannot forgive. I can forgive." I think Jesus said something relatively close to that. And she spent years of watching people sin, but never judged them. Each sin resulted in a forgiveness from her, and she still befriended them in the last arc. She literally "ate with sinners". Takano is the figurative representation of the devil. Downcast from her past throne, she resorts to evil and revenge. She tempts Tomitake to join her, and also tempts the Yaimanu to do her bidding. Yet, when the Baken (Angels of god? Notice how they come from above...) arrive, they realize they are powerless and abandon her. Hanyuu tries to bring her back to righteousness, but she spits on it. The downcast devil, who wishes for nothing more but revenge on God's people. Just random thoughts. __________________
