Lol I am going to step in into all this shit talking of the fall season.
I encourage all of you anime only viewers to read the ln threads to a certain degree, at least to understand more of what's to come. What you guys are doing is like one guy going to a jewellery store, and stating that all of the jewels are basically the same and are all dull. You guys aren't bothering to even check out what type of jewels it is and it's true value.

This is how it is for most anime adapted from light novels. It's difficult to judge just from one episode.

What do you think of the animation? Do you think Silver Link is doing a good joob on this series?

Appearently during a pre-screening event, some people from the staff said "please look forward to EP4". At least that's what someone from the LN thread once mentioned when talking about the event.

Lol I couldn't stop laughing at how predictable the events in this episode were.

The artwork looks nice. The comedy was okay too. I'm not sure about the story though. I'll give it a couple more episodes mainly because Silver Link.

Gakusen - harem.
Rakudai - no harem.

First episode is out. Pretty good, some typical cliches as expected, but the style is ok, fairly well animated and the intro/ending (no idea what it was) was really neat.

I'll be seeing this.

Not a bad start to this series. It has some nice characters as the protagonist, even if they are the same types as other series. This series has some elements of Mahouka as well as Absolute Duo. The Blaze factor definitely is the same as Absolute Duo, so it makes me wonder if this is from the same world.

Other than that, this was an enjoyable start so far. It's most likely a keeper for the season. I'm going to have problems watching all the good shows this season.

I liked it. I dont like how the anime news network reviewers are tearing it to shreds. It should shape up to be pretty good by the end if the pace it and adapt it well enough.

to be fair, it set itself up for failure airing right after gakusen on the same day. tis to be expected.

that and let's be real, both shows are just taking things other shows did and putting their own spin on it, harem or not.

That usually happens to anime adapted from a light novel so don't worry too much about it. At least most people who never read the LN or manga said it was good and planning to continue watching after seeing the first episode. In addition at many places on the internet the people who have watched the first episode of both Rakudai and Asterisk but never read their novels, more of them said they prefer Rakudai.

ANN Reviewers tear every LN adaption to shreds it seems. It's kinda hard to take them seriously

It's not even on the level of "I've seen this before"
It's "I just saw this a moment ago"-level.
I can tell the anime industry doesn't have any material left to animate when this happens.

That said, it wasn't so bad I would throw it out right away. I'll give it a couple of episodes, not expecting much. Probably, anyways. Maybe I'll just forget about it.

that's circumstantial evidence at best though. we need to see how rakudai is doing ratings wises because as far as reviews are going, it's getting torn to shreds.

Heh. I once read the manga and found it hilarious. Then i gave the premiere a try and still found it hilarious -- all in the wrong ways. Even more so since i just cringed my way out of Asterisk, with the same redhead heroine, fiery personalities, fiery magic, and being found naked. Oh, and about the latter point, the end result is almost always to challenge the dude in duel.

This episode pretty much covered any of the few similarities there are between the shows. There won't be any more. I must admit though that this "beginning" is really a bit overused.
