his teachers try to save him weren't they with him?
Spoiler for DofD:
Yami (or possibly YOMI, I'd have to check the books) sent him an invitation to the DofD (Desperate fight of Disciples), and after much soul searching, Kenichi decided to accept, forming the Ryouzampaku team with Miu. Shimpaku Rengou, many of whose members had been training hard for the anticipated showdown with YOMI, also go (Ryouzampaku refuses them passage on their boat, but Hermit provides a yacht.) The masters of Ryouzampaku aren't just there to cheer Kenichi and Miu on - Sakaki is on assignment from the Japanese government to deal with the renegade master of South Pacific island where the tournament takes place, and he links up with an old aquaintance of his, Jennie Gray, an FBI agent that has already infiltrated the island. Together with Shigure, they free an American recon team from the island's dungeon, who proceed to sabotage the island's defenses to let in a strike force. Kenichi's masters are all busy elsewhere, fighting the island's defenders, while the final battle of the tournament is unfolding.
(Shimpaku Rengou made it to the semi-finals before withdrawing (if they had stayed in, their opponent would have been Shou, and he'd already taken out most of their strength in a night-time confrontation after he had abducted Miu), and the fighting breaks out as they head for the harbor.
Is there any indication that the manga will continue or will it most likely end with this? Also is the end of this arc near?

I know I am probably in the minority here, but sports do ot suck. I love basball and so do millions of people in the United States, Japan, and many Caribbean and Latin countries.
I think the end of the arc is near, but I think that the manga is still going to continue... there is still the matter of Miu's father to be resolved, plus not all of YOMI, and hardly any of Yami have been dealt with.
Well, there was that French assassin Christopher something-or-other who was definitely from Yami (but probably not part of the leadership) who Sakaki defeated, with Kenichi as a tag-along. Also, presumably Fortuna, master of the island where the tournament was held, has some connection to Yami (but also probably not part of the leadership) has just been dealt with.
From the name of the leadership group (九拳一影, if I remember right - Nine Fists, One Shadow), I think there are nine, but I don't think we've met them all.
then if they fight Ryazampaku they will win? cuz they have more people
Spoiler:
Well, i'm not to sure about that. Ryozanpaku is pretty powerful. Sure Yami has nine fists, but they are master class fighters. So far, we haven't seen any of them pile up on one person. It's like they like to have one on on fights or something. I think Ryozanpaku would come out with the win. They don't call him the invincible elder for nothing. But, if they were to just gang up on the honorable masters, they would probably win.
I doubt that the manga is over, the tournament maybe, but not the manga. It would be too incomplete if it ended now in my opinion. So does anyone have the recent chapters after 265?
The manga definitely isn't over; websunday.net (Shonen Sunday's homepage) lists it as appearing in both 2007's issue 52 (currently on sale) and 2008's issue 1 (on sale next week.)
Oh, and wouldn't this discussion be better suited to the manga thread?
Kuro-Hana, in conjunction with Illuminati Manga, has released chapter 81 (first chapter of Volume 10.)
A translation of Chapter 97 has been posted on Mangahelpers.
Volume 27 goes on sale Dec. 15.
Spoiler for Chapter 266:
This chapter occurs entirely at Yami headquarters. Members of YOMI are also present.
Shou's dad - the leader of Yami - is really M - A - D about the death of his son. The other members of Yami's council manage to calm him down, and a course of action is decided upon.
Odin - Ryuuto - in his wheelchair seems surprised to learn that Kenichi survived.
Spoiler for Chapter 267:
It's the first day of the new school year. Kenichi, recovered from his injuries from the DofD tournament, comes up behind Miu on the way to school and gets tossed - but unlike nearly a year ago, he lands on his feet.
Kenichi, Miu, Izumi, Izumi's long-haired friend (whose name, Himeno Makoto, is revealed for the first time in the main comic - it had previously been revealed in a side story collected in the Gaiden volume) have all advanced to second year, and again are in the same class. Izumi has tickets to something, and tries to invite Kenichi on a date, but Miu gets his attention before she can finish asking. Poor Izumi-chan!
Natsu has also advanced to 2nd year. When Kenichi greets him, Natsu says he wishes Kenichi had died of his wounds, but changes his tune when Kenichi gets the attention of the Tanimoto Fan Club.
Ukita and Takeda, thanks to being delinquent much of last year, failed to graduate and are repeating 3rd year (something that is unusual, as I understand it.) Ukita is despondent, until Kisara reminds him that now he's in the same grade as her.
Some big new 1st years butt heads with the smaller Kenichi, trying to establish their place in the pecking order, but completely change their tune when they realize this is the home school of Shimpaku Rengou, and the kid they were trying to bully is none other than Commander Shirahama of Shimpaku.
Everyone is called to the gym for an assembly, where the principal has a big announcement - for the first time ever, their school has exchange students, from America, Russia and Thailand. Kenichi and company are dismayed when they see the new students, for they are members of YOMI - Boris from Russia, whose team had previously tried a dojo challenge at Ryouzampaku; some Thai they haven't encountered before, Pollux of team Gemini...
and grabbing the mike is his sister Castor, who introduces herself as Rachel Stanley
Chapter 83 has been released by Kuro-Hana and Illuminati Manga.
Spoiler for chapter 268:
In addition to Rachel Stanley, the other new exchange students are her brother Ethan (both from America), Boris Ivanov from Russia, and Tirawit Kokin from Thailand.
Kenichi recognizes Boris from his dojo challenge, and various members of Shimpaku recognize the Stanleys as Castor and Pollux, from Team Gemini at the D of D tournament. The assumption is made that the Thai is also a member of YOMI.
There is a brief confrontation between Kenichi and Tirawit, where the Thai (who seems to be the leader of the quartet) says that they could "do" the 800 of so enrollment of the school in 2 hours... on second thought, since half are girls, in an hour and a half. Since Kenichi had a close fight with Shou, they would give him some time to train before teaching him that "Satsujinken" (killer fist) is stronger than "Katsujinken" (life-giver fist) (I need to go back and review how I translated those terms in the confrontation between the brothers Ba in Yokohama Chinatown.)
Kenichi runs home to Ryouzampaku (yelling, "Master, help me") and after some discussion among the masters, he starts training with one of Kouetsuji's inventions (the Seikuuken Strengthening Machine, "All-Hit-kun".) Surprisingly, he is soon joined by Miu, who says she will fight at his side to teach YOMI the power of Katusjinken.
At the end, Tirawit makes a cell phone call to report to eye-patch guy in YOMI headquarters.
