Most moe girl + her pet combinations

It's occurred to me on a few ocassions that having a pet can seriously increase a girl's moe power. What are some of your favourite girl + pet combinations?

Some of my favourites:
Aruruu + Gachatara (Utawarerumono) - Touka + Gatchatara works too
Miu + Pannya (Mashiro-iro Symphony)
Akira + the cat that hangs out in her hair (Yosuga no Sora)
Tsugumi + Chami (Ever 17 - a visual novel only example)

I guess a recent example would be Mikono and cat her like pet from Aquarion EVOL. Other examples would be pretty much every "traditional" mahou shojou regarding the main female character and their magical familiar.

Does uh, Himari and her penguin from Mawaru Penguindrum count? . How about Ranka and that green alien slug thing from Macross Frontier? Though technically not a pet, what about Inori and that robot (Funnell I think it was called) since it acts very "pet" like?

I'm sure there's a lot more but I can't remember on top of my head.

It might be coincidence, but 0utf0xZer0 has used examples that are all from VN's

A mascotte pet and a bishoujo is quite common in many VN's that i have read, but a more recent example from a few that i liked would be

Tamaki Sakura and Nemu (Hatsuyuki Sakura)

I'm not sure if Yasako in Dennou Coil is a moe character (not vulnerable enough perhaps), but she has a great pet, particularly since Densuke isn't real. Here he is in episode one:

Personally, I tend to find definitions of moe that require the character to be vulnerable too narrow. I do think that a weakness can greatly boost a character's moe power, but a weakness and a vulnerability are not always the same thing - the video of Touka I just posted seems relalivant here, the weakness for small animals is obvious (and very, very moe) but I wouldn't say she's vulnerable.

Heh... it's not intentional, I assure you.

I considered including Mikono and Shush from Aquarion EVOL as well but decided I didn't like them quite as much as the others.

By that token aren't nearly all modern anime girls moe? I'd consider someone like Yune in Ikoku Meiro no Croisee as moe not just because of her incredibly cute character model, but because she also encourages everyone around her (and the viewer) to want to protect and support her. As another example, I think of Yuno in Hidamari Sketch as moe, but not Sae or even Miyako. I don't see Konata and Kagami in Lucky*Star as moe, either, though Tsukasa certainly is. How about Haruhi?

Otherwise what's the difference between moe and kawaii?
