Well, going by the pattern of lost so far, I'd expect Karin's Mankai lost to be either losing her sense of smell or losing all feeling in one of her limbs (maybe her right arm/hand becomes completely unfeeling).

Remember guys, they are heroes (heroines), not mahou shoujo. Therefore tentacles won't be as effective on them.

Jokes aside, are they going to have a beach episode while they suffer from the new disabilities? That's just depressing. Especially if the young one has an accident and forgot that she can't call for help.

I think the things they lose are things that are important to them. If Karin ever uses Mankai and then loses something, I expect it would be something related to her physical fitness or combat capability. Right now, however, I'm pretty sure she hasn't lost anything, because she didn't use Mankai.

I like how they deal with the aftermath of the "big bad" instead of something more cliché. A good episode that was calm despite the sense of impending drama ruling throughout the episode. They threw in all sorts of signals and end the episode on a pretty good note. I like how this series misleads the public.

That's actually the twist. There's no new enemies and instead they all slowly go insane.

Although now that I think about it it is possible.

In RL Japan they do have wheelchair for bath/hot spring and there are also hot spring onsen facilities that could provide service for them

Did I hear wrong or that was Itsuki's voice in the preview?

I always thought the main theme was "disabilities", especially after one of the first few episodes showed so much of the daily life of wheelchair girl. After this last episode, it's even clearer though, and it's very obvious that all of these new ones are permanent. If there is a next fight, and I have little doubts there will be, Karin will most likely lose the use of a limb (or worse) afterwards, and I doubt she'll take it very well. I fear it might go the cheesy slightly suicidal -> "but you have friends" -> "ok" routine but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you, I clarified what I wanted to say above. I meant the main theme is disabilities. You may disagree, but for me that is what's omnipresent while I haven't yet seen much or anything that made me think of "courage".

Yuuna choosing to fight to protect her friends despite being afraid in episode 1. Togo choosing to fight to protect Yuuna despite both fear for herself and fear that her handicap would make her a burden to the others. Karin facing her fear of socialization to work with the Hero club (with help, but she still did it). Itsuki overcoming her fear of singing in front of people, and likewise her fear of only being dependent on her sister and not being able to stand up for herself. I can't yet think of a strong example of Fuu overcoming a specific fear, but if we haven't had one yet I'm sure one will either come, or the lack of it will prove to be an example for something.

Despite that last, courage has been present everywhere, in every episode, an influence on everything these girls have done. It is their courage that has brought them to be who they are and where they are, and it is their courage that the darkness in the series seeks to challenge.

I just caught up on this show... wow slow burn, but I'm glad I gave it a shot.

There's a real love of typical boy's action, heroic, nationalistic, and military themes and subjects hiding behind that fluffy pastel facade. It's a hardboiled war drama dressed in pink lace.

I'm fascinated by the terrific costumes, action coreography, and monster designs. I liked what Madoka did in the monster department, but these work better for me - some of the nicest I've seen since Evangelion.

The pacing is tourtureusly slow for my taste. I would have chalked it up to filler, but one of the early episodes that was driving me mad with impatiance actually ran into the end credits so it seems quite intentional.

Lots of good misdirection. I was uncertain about Togo, totally suckered in by Karin's death flag, and didn't expect the main wave of Vertex (Vertecies?) to be over by now. Quite hooked! I think the show's in good hands, and I can't imgine being dissapointed unless they go with an "all is healed all is better ending" (given the destroyed city in the OP I tend to doubt that).

Imagine the life of war veterans with injuries, that also detrimental to their life and dream.
My feeling exactly. I just recommended this show to a friend as "Magical Girls with PTSD". It seems like we've actually got a meaningful (if not earthshattering) addition to the genre.

Despite all that, there's still something that's eluding me... somehow it doesn't feel like a show I'll immediately remember two to three years from now, but it has been exceeding expectations so far so here's hoping!

No, there is no destroyed city in the op.

That's the barrier appearing.

Well, I was going to reply but Random Wanderer said everything already, so I'll just quote him:

I'm just going to add that the way they're dealing with their health problems shows a great deal of courage too. I think they already suspect their problems are more serious than the doctors are telling them, yet they still remain upbeat and hopeful.

Makes sense because they getting sad or despairing won't heal them anyway.

Why?

Because losing something inexchange for saving people is a price a hero would pay for.
