And it becomes blatantly obvious here how little budget was allocated to this show - almost the whole fight was entirely cut. Of course, the author is dead, but my thinking is if you are going to push a dead author's work, please give it some love. How am I supposed to feel enthusiastic if by all appearances it has been given an absolute minimal budget. |

@arkhangelsk
They also keep reusing fanservice scenes from previous epiosde to put into the intro. Hopefully, they're reserving the budget for some important fight scenes to be shown later. And Hazuki should do the cinderella transformation by the next episode... we're at ep 5, it's almost half the show and she's still running around.

It was never anything great in the first place, but damn, this anime is in shambles. The 3rd version of the OP feels like it moves even less than the incomplete versions.
And it's not like the content is any better. The author is rolling in his grave.

At least they showed the fight. It wasn't great animation, but at least they showed it, which made it better than last week. And while the Protagonist Finds Third Way Out out of Nowhere is stereotypical, at least because it is stereotypical it is kind of not a mistake anymore, and I did like the idea of her finding it after realizing she does have a loving family after all. And it is kind of interesting that Kazan lost more because she lost to her own conscience than anything else. And plausible, compared to the idea of Hazuki just connecting with her book and coming out with new overwhelming techniques that wipe her opposition off the map. The OP, yeah, OK it was uninspiring. We need to lower our expectations to the budget of the show, and really as one of those who don't really watch the OPs usually I don't necessarily agree it is the place to spend budget if you have none. |

Really enjoyed this one. Hazuki finally got some action.. and Qazan seems to have realized the right thing to do. Well, probably because of the budget... Hazuki didn't get a flashy transformation scene.. anyway, as explained in precure anime - transformation is actually just a flash of light (like what happened here), the long transform scenes is just doing the transform in slow motion. ^^ The pied piper uses cannons and rats, the puss in boots is a fencer that uses lies... but I was suprised most of all by Shizuka.. when she activate her full power, i thought tentacles were coming out of her white robes - later it was shown to be a flying boat. And lastly... I like this intro better than the first one, just personal preference. looking forward to next week

I read the comments and it's sad that the show is getting this kind of treatment. It has potential, but unfortunately its creator has passed away, meaning the well has dried out.
Though, I did like the idea of Origin Users sharing the same fate as the character they transform into...and honestly, it was something that I imagined as well, but thought it wouldn't be used because in some stories the protagonist doesn't always survive. I also liked Hazuki's Cinderella form, really nice Quote:
The fight also showed her using the robe of the fire-rat (Inuyasha fans probably know this one)...and I think the dragon-shaped attack was from the colored jewel from a dragon's neck. This leaves the stone begging bowl of the Buddha and the Cowry treasure of the swallows for her to use...and possibly the feathered robe from the moon, but that one might come with a heavy cost to use Anyway, I'm looking forward to what happens in the next arc

Yeah, it's sad that this show is getting some poor treatment. But I think we're lucky to even have a show... considering the fact that the creator has gone already. There must be some special reason they went on with this.
Ah, and th anks for the explanation on the story of Kaguya hime.

Watched episode 7:
For one scary moment, I thought the russian team wanted to poison Hazuki.. well, turns out they only want to make her drink milk. The love letter had me laughing all the way.. comrade Maria can't write, so another person writes it.. then they discover that there's FREE wifi, so Hazuki isn't trapped. xD Well, they eventually got more serious... the russian girl with the mittens has a cool ability - her power reminds me of someone from Hunter X Hunter anime. Yumilia thought she won... but the russian has a backup plan. Comrade Tatiana is a good person.. I think everyone in the russian team is a good person. The only mistake they did is thinking it's ok to cheat after someone sabotaged Tatiana's book.

Frankly, Episode 7 is by far the strongest episode they've put out. The choice to assign Russians the comedic role is rarely done, so it was surprising. They are actually rather endearing in their earnest stupidity and it actually felt pretty good to watch them.
Currently, of all the factions I'm seeing so far, I'm betting on the American team being responsible for this. I just don't see a genuine member of that Committee being willing to harm a book in any way. But from a story perspective, the book in its original form would have made the Russian team rather overpowered given the kind of abilities we've seen so far - it can even terminate even their transformation. From 500m way, apparently. Ouch. |

Marchen Madchen review
As far as I have watched, this is a pleasant series with likable characters especially Hazuki who you want to have a happy ending. The OP is charming with great vocals and fantasy theme going for it. The theme of going pass the shadow rings true with the story of Hazuki.

Either the next episode's current quality is at the level of Haruto's (in Imouto sae Ireba) last episode, or they really are dedicated to doing what they can with the tiny budget they have. |

Referring to the quote from /a/ ... sounds serious, where did all their other staff go to? It seems the motivation to work is low. I just hope they don't cancel Marchen Madchen.. I want to see how this anime ends.
