Just wanna say after watching ep. 20 - Yui has the best on-foot action hero scenes..and in the cockpit Yuuya steals the spot light. I guess The hero and heroine have their own epic moments in this anime. I like that balance.

Yeah but she needs to get that katana back like yesterday. I'm starting to fear we're never going to get to see her just go buck wild with that thing either on foot or in a TSF ever again. Katana "JAPAN FUCK YEAH" Yui beats Jellyui any day of the week for me....I think? Again haven't seen much of it outside of promo pictures and figurines.

Yui is ranking for my top 3 female main characters of 2012, the others being Watashi from Jinrui (voiced by Mai Nakahara again) and Morgianna from Magi (whose the underlying theme of slavery and freedom have always resonated strongly in my heart since I have read the story of Spartacus as a child).

Over the course of the entire series, I have seen many aspects of Yui. From the fourteen years old youth, thrown too early into a war, to the hardass officer that is actually a facade for the child that is still in her. Jellyui feels to me like an aspect of her whole being instead of just a separate entity, for she likely denied herself such "foolish" things as love. Then we have the Yui we love, the action girl Yui, competent enough without tipping the balance of plot entirely to her being.

She deserves a happy ending though, with all the shit she has gone through (losing all her friends and seeing some of them eaten right in front of her, losing all her fellow comrades, and even nearly losing the subject of her jellyness: her beloved Yuuya). Hope I don't jinx it.

Let me explain: In the past, I've had a nasty habit of liking female characters voiced by Mai Nakahara---BEFORE- I knew they were being voiced by Mai Nakahara. It just so happened to be that coincidence.

Cases in point:
Maburaho - (Chihaya Yamase)
Magikano - (Yoshikawa Maika)
Tactical Roar - (Nanaha Misaki)
Utawarerumono - (Yuzuha)
Clannad - (Nagisa Furukawa)
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS - (Teana Lanster)
Sora Kake Girl - (Kagura Shishido)
Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere - (Musashi)

SO......three guesses who voices Yui? -_-

Yep. I was doomed to like her from the start.

I liked the tough girls kind of character, the contrast is much more cuter when they show their hidden side... which was why I really liked the design from back in the VN promo days...
Think I had a Yui Img post somewhere in the Images thread as well back just before the TV series aired.

If I want to compare with the other "kickass" female character from another show, I talk about Asuna here, the last arc have benefitted Yui's character in more favorable ways than the entire ALO arc did with Asuna's character.

Yes, I can say that the lastest episodes have shown Yui being a total BOSS.
